Mondays......

Besides a tornado drill and a bird flying around in one of the buildings one of the lamp posts in parking lot fell over and was blocking one of the exits when I left school. Sure is an exciting first day back at school. Yep that is what happened this morning while I was at school. My theory behind the lamp post falling over is that the imaginary tornado that came through during the drill decided to knock it over. When I come up with a theory on how the bird got inside the school, besides flying through a door way, I will let you know.

7 Quick Takes Friday

--- 1 --- Even though I kind of set myself up for this on accident, but I was roped into acting in "The 7 last Words of Christ." I was originally not going to help because my job didn't allow for me to make a lot of the practices. But then I had to say something about having to work so I couldn't make all of the practices or something along those line.       --- 2 --- I was going to say how I don't like snow, especially after the first day of spring, but I wasn't sure how I was going to word it. I was also going to mention something about the rain that we have been having as well, of course I couldn't figure out how to word it without making it sound weird. --- 3 --- I found this on Tumblr and I really like it so I decided to share it here :) --- 4 --- Last week my sister wrote a post on her blog about how she is a secret ninja, because she somehow managed to hurt her ankle. And last week my right wrist started hurting a little and I

Themed Thursday: Hear

Image
I am linking up again for Theme Thursday and this weeks theme is "hear." And like Taylor Swift says in her song "The Story of Us,"   I've never heard silence quite this loud.

Happy Feast of the Annunciation

Image
V.   The Angel of the Lord declared unto Mary. R.   And she conceived of the Holy Spirit. Hail Mary ,   etc. V.   Behold the handmaid of the Lord, R.   Be it done unto me according to Thy word. Hail Mary ,   etc. V.   And the Word was made flesh, R.   And dwelt amongst us. Hail Mary ,   etc. V.   Pray for   us, O most holy Mother of God, R.   That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. Let us pray. Pour forth, we beseech Thee, O Lord, Thy grace into our hearts; that, as we have known the Incarnation of Christ Thy Son by the message of an Angel, so by His Passion and Cross we may be brought to the glory of the Resurrection. Through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.

--- 1 --- In case you haven't seen it yet there is a youtube video of "Let It Go" being sung in different character voices from Disney and Pixar movies floating around on Facebook and it is hysterical. I like the guys Micky Mouse and Whinnie the Pooh impressions. You can find the video here . --- 2 --- On Saturday my family and I finally got to watch "Thor: The Dark World" and we all enjoyed it. Especially once Loki showed up. We all loved this scene . I also thought that the funeral scene for Thor's mother was sad and beautiful at the same time. Here is a link to the scene . If you haven't seen it yet I apologize for the spoilers. --- 3 --- The amazing Irish Soda bread that we have every year on St. Patrick's Day. --- 4 --- This is the one week during Lent that I like to think of as our splurging on sweets week. The reason being that we celebrate St. Patrick's day at the beginning of the week, then on the 19th is the fest

Theme Thursday: Rich

Image
Today I decided to join in on the photography fun known as Theme Thursday and is hosted each week over at Clan Donaldson . My mother has been doing this each week for a while now and I decided to join in this week. The theme for this week is rich and here is my interpretation of that.

Happy Feast of St. Joseph

Image
Oh,  St. Joseph , whose protection is so great, so strong, so prompt before the throne of  God . I place in you all my interests and desires. Oh,  St. Joseph , do assist me by your powerful intercession, and obtain for me from your divine Son all spiritual blessings, through  Jesus Christ , our Lord. So that, having engaged here below your heavenly power, I may offer my thanksgiving and homage to the most loving of Fathers. Oh,  St. Joseph , I never weary of contemplating you, and  Jesus  asleep in your arms; I dare not approach while He reposes near your  heart . Press  Him  in my name and kiss  His  fine head for me and ask him to return the Kiss when I draw my dying breath.  St. Joseph, Patron of departing souls  -  Pray for me .

My Confession

I have been blind, unwilling to see The true love you're giving. I have ignored every blessing. I'm on my knees confessing I was originally going to do this post closer to Good Friday but then I changed my mind and decided to post this now. A while ago I remember hearing someone say that Josh Groban's song "My Confessions," besides being a love song, could be taken into a Catholic/Christian point of view. And last night as I was leaving Adoration parts of the song just started playing through my head and I knew that I wanted to try and write an analogy of sorts. So here is my attempt at that. That I feel myself surrender Each time I see your face. I am staggered by your beauty, Your unassuming grace. And I feel my heart is turning, Falling into place. I can't hide it Now hear my confession. To me the song is about finding Christ again and telling him our confession and how, like at the  beginning  of the song, we have been blind and unwilling  the tru

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Image
I   bind unto myself today The strong Name of the Trinity, By invocation of the same, The Three in One and One in Three. I  bind this day to me for ever. By power of faith, Christ's incarnation; His baptism in the Jordan river; His death on Cross for my salvation; His bursting from the spicèd tomb; His riding up the heavenly way; His coming at the day of doom; I bind unto myself today. I  bind unto myself the power Of the great love of the cherubim; The sweet 'well done' in judgment hour, The service of the seraphim, Confessors' faith, Apostles' word, The Patriarchs' prayers, the Prophets' scrolls, All good deeds done unto the Lord, And purity of virgin souls. I  bind unto myself today The virtues of the starlit heaven, The glorious sun's life-giving ray, The whiteness of the moon at even, The flashing of the lightning free, The whirling wind's tempestuous shocks, The stable earth, the deep salt sea, Around the old eternal rocks.

I finally finished the doll blanket that I had started back in January for one of the girls that I nanny. Here are a couple pictures that I took of the blanket with Rosie's American Girl doll Julie modeling.

7 Quick Takes Friday

Image
--- 1 --- I found this on Pinterest and thought that it was funny. --- 2 --- Even though I have probably beaten this subject to death already I had to bring up exercise again. A while ago it was suggested to me by my wonderful parents to start keeping track of all of the food that I eat so that I can watch calories and such and work on losing weight. Though I hadn't started doing that right away I have decided to start doing it, especially while I'm at work, and I only remembered the suggested when a friend of mine posted a link to a website called SparkPeople. The website helps you keep track of what you are eating, training and stuff like that so I decided to give that a try as well. --- 3 --- Though they started back in April 2012 The Lizzie Bennet Diaries " an online modern adaptation of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice " is a fun series on youtube that I think any Jane Austen fan would enjoy. If you haven't seen them yet but want to wa

Oh the joys of never really knowing  what to write for blog posts. But on a separate note I finished reading "Insurgent" on Monday morning. I enjoyed it as much as the first book, now I just have to wait until the third book comes in at the library so that I can read it. Part of what I am doing for Lent, besides giving up sweets and such, I have started reading the Bible. I have read parts of the Bible on and off but I want to read more of it so I decided to start reading it during Lent. Though I haven't remembered to read it every day I am making my way through it slowly. On Pinterest I found a recipe for peach lemonade and it sounds delicious! Now I want it to be summer so that I can find some fresh peaches to try the recipe. I am hoping that I can try it this summer. If you haven't heard of it yet Camp NaNoWriMo is a spring/summer version of the NaNoWriMo that is in November and it is next month. Ever since Camp NaNo started back in 2012 -ish I have done i

7 Quick Takes Friday

--- 1 --- Lent has started and this year I am giving up snacks, sweets (except for birthdays and Holy Days) as well as trying to exercise more. I will do my best to let you know how it is going. :) --- 2 --- As I am sure you saw by my post on Sunday that it was my birthday at the beginning of the week. Besides what I talked about in my post that day Amanda and I went out to dinner on Saturday night with two cousins. It was a lot of fun. For dinner we went to "FlatTop Grill" and the food was amazing, especially if you like stir fry. The place that we went to for dessert is one of the best chocolate places ever! In the menu the first two pages list all of the different hot chocolates that they do as well as chocolate lattes and mochas. Not to mention they make amazing desserts. They also have a small store attached where you can by a bunch of different candies. --- 3 --- Words to live by. --- 4 --- Last week I decided to not do a 7 Quick Takes Friday sinc

Ash Wednesday

Image
Forty days alone,  a wilderness of thoughts,  tempting and inviting thoughts,  which could so easily have distracted you  from your task, your mission, your vision. Yet you emerged, stronger and more attuned  to all that had to be done,  despite a time constraint  that to our eyes would have seemed hopeless. We too live in stressful times.  Demands are made of our time,  that leave so little  for the important things of life.  We are easily distracted  in the wilderness of our lives,  by every call to go this way or that, to turn stone to bread  leap from mountains,  and do all that would keep us from the truth. We listen to the voices of this world,  and ignore the one who endured all this  and so much more,  and emerged triumphant,  that we might not have to suffer so. Forgive us, Father,  when we get distracted from our task.  Forgive us those times when we try  to be all things to all men,  and fail to be anything to anyone

IT'S MY BIRTHDAY! Tada!

Image
My apologies for the title being in pretty much all caps. Like I mentioned the other day about the title of Thursday's post working better for this one, the title that I have works even better because it is my birthday! Though I don't really like to publicize my birthday on the internet I decided to do it for today's 7 posts, 7 days thing since I had nothing else to do for today. Besides getting to quote "Tangled" for this post I get to share my birthday with a dear friend of mine. It was kind of funny how my friend "R" and I found out that we shared the same birthday. We had met at a week long Catholic girl's summer camp and one day during lunch the camp coordinator had all of the months separate into tables according to the month that their birthday is in. So as the March tables were waiting to get their lunch we were going around the tables saying when our birthdays were and that is how R and I found out that we share the same birthday, as

The 5 Love Languages

Last night during a talk that was given at a young adult group that I attend occasionally the subject of the 5 Love Languages was brought up and gave me the idea for today's post. There is an online test that you can take to figure out what your love language is and it can be found here . Just like everyone has a main and secondary temperament (Choleric, Sanguine, Melancholic, Phlegmatic) they can also have a main and secondary love language as well. My love language is "Quality Time" and my secondary one is "Words of Affirmation".  There are also a couple books about the 5 Love Languages (spouse/children, etc.) that were written by Gary Chapman which you can check out here . Here are the descriptions of the 5 Love Languages. Quality Time In Quality Time, nothing says “I love you” like full, undivided attention. Being there for this type of person is critical, but really being there—with the TV off, fork and knife down, and all chores and tasks on standb
