You Were Born Original

Image
Nowadays it seems like everyone is trying to be the same. But that can't work well. Because you were born original, don't die the photocopy.  Photo by  RhondaK Native Florida Folk Artist  on  Unsplash Being the elephant in the room isn't always a bad thing, being the elephant in the room show you're not afraid to be different. And we can all be the elephant in the room because we are all different and original. If we are a photocopy than we aren't being our true selves. As an original, we are all part of a greater puzzle that works better together when we are being ourselves. Because a photocopy doesn't work the same if we are placing it in a puzzle.  "In a way, you've already won in this world. Because you're the only one who can be you." - Mr. Rodgers. What Mr. Rodgers says in the above quote is true. We have already won in this world as ourselves and by being original. If we aren't being original than we haven't won and w

Venerable Fulton Sheen, Pray For Us!

Image
The other day my mom, two siblings and my older sisters mother-in-law and brother-in-law had the opportunity to visit and pray at the tomb of Venerable Fulton J. Sheen down in Peoria. It was an amazing experience and is now the fouth saint/blessed/venerable that I have had the opportunity to pray in front of. The other three were St. Mary Magdalene, St. Maria Goretti and St. Padre Pio. Taken by me The picture on the top left is of Ven. Fulton Sheen's tomb and on the top right is a close up of the painting of our Lady of Czestochowa. On the bottom left is in the cathedral's adoration chapel where they also have several relics of different saints. Bottom right is information about Ven. Fulton Sheen. After praying in front of his tomb and visiting the relics in the adoration chapel we walked a block or two down the street to visit the Fulton Sheen museum, which was an amazing experience as well. Because they had a lot of artifacts that had belonged to him. Though they did

Disconnect to Reconnect

Disconnect to reconnect. No, I am not talking about disconnecting and reconnecting your internet at home. I am talking about real people and spending time with them. Disconnect from your phones and try reconnecting with the people around you. This is something that I struggle with a little, and I am trying to work on it.  Photo by  boram kim  on  Unsplash While I am not an expert on this, but people often tend to say that they are being realistic with how much time they are spending on the internet, whether it is on their phone, computer, tablet, iPad, etc. But if you really take the time to look at it, that is just a lie. Because there is so much out there on the internet that pulls people into it and it can impact them negatively. In one of the daily reflection books by Norman Vincent Peale says that: "When most people say they are being "realistic" they delude themselves; they are simply being negative." But how does being realistic relate to disconnec

It's Ok If You Fall

Image
It's ok if you fall apart sometimes. Tacos fall apart and we still love them. Which is true because tacos are delicious and fall apart a lot.   Photo by  Krisztian Tabori  on  Unsplash In today's world, everyone is often led to believe that they have to be perfect. And depending on what they are focusing on, their focus on perfection will change. For some people, they are focusing on having the perfect body. While other people focus on having the perfect house. But we don't need to worry about being perfect. Another thing that people tend to focus on is making their problems disappear. And these problems stick around and are always with us. But there are things that we can do to change the problems that we have. Of course, how everyone goes about changing them depends on the person because we are all different and no one is the same. So what works for one person might not work for someone else. While it is an entirely different topic altogether the same goes fo
