Code Name: Kyle

We can all say that we have gotten sale flyers in the mail and/or in our email box at least once right? Of course we have. I get sale flyers emailed to me from Maurice, Payless Shoe Source, and Michael's. While they always end up in the trash bin, I always notice that the emails that I get from Payless always call me Kyle. Now you are probably wondering why they are calling me Kyle, when I am not a guy and my name doesn't even start with k. Well I am wondering the same thing, because it doesn't make sense to me. The last time that I was in Payless to buy shoes, the lady who was running the cash register asked me if the name Kyle was the correct one and I told her that it wasn't and I had thought that the problem was fixed. But I guess it wasn't, because when they emailed me a sale coupon for my birthday at the beginning of the month, it said Kyle. The only thing that I can think of as to where they are getting the Kyle from is that someone with the name had m

Malt Baby Blanket: Part 2

Image
Back in July I wrote a post about a baby blanket that I had started making using a pattern that I found Pinterest. I finished the blanket several weeks ago and added the three shamrocks that I had made. When I first started working on the blanket the pattern told me to do a certain amount of garter stitch rows and then do the rest of the blanket, with the exception of the border, in stockinette stitch. I thought that it was a little weird/odd that they would have you do that, though I'm sure that it would look pretty. Since I didn't see the point in that one of my sisters suggested that I keep making the blanket the way that I had been. So I did. In October or November, I can't remember, after having worked on the blanket for several months I needed a break so I stopped working on the blanket. Instead I started working on a different knitting project that I had started back towards the beginning of last year that I have been work on and off. I also made a scarf fo

Work + Late Nights = Made up Words

Image
Tuesday evening last week I had to work late and on my way home, thankfully when it wasn't terribly windy or rainy, I was thinking about different things and I randomly combined two words together and created a new one. The word that I came up with is: Snarkastic . As you are probably wondering. Why would anyone want to combine the words snarky and sarcastic? Well people combine words all the time and create new ones and that is what I did. I also did it because I can be a bit sarcastic and snarky around my family. Like I mentioned at the beginning of this post, I had to work late and my brain is always going in multiple directions, which is how I came to making up a new word. It was also a way to help me stay awake while I drove the few minutes home. Even though I made it up over a week ago, I sort of forgot about it and never came up with a definition for it. Though I'm not entirely sure how you would create a definition for snarkastic. So that is the story of how I

What I've Been Reading

Image
Over the past month I have slowly been making my way through a biography entitled "Elizabeth the Queen: The Life of a Modern Monarch" by Sally Bedell Smith. I came across this book back in January while I was wandering around a small bookstore called "Books a Million," the acronym is BAM which I think is cute. Since I was just looking and not planning on buying anything I wrote down the title and the authors name in the memo app on my phone and placed a hold on the book at the library. Speaking of libraries, when I checked out this book, when it came in, I noticed on the receipt that it told me how much money I had saved in the past year by checking books out at the library. Since I had checked out another book besides this book it said that I saved $70.00 just by checking the two books out. Over the past year I saved a total of $784.68, just by using the library instead of buying them. One of my favorite stories, that I read in the book, is about when the quee

8 Weeks In

Well we are eight weeks into the second half of the school year and so far it has been going well for me. All of my classes are very interesting and I am enjoying them so far. So far I have had two tests, multiple quizzes and discussion boards. The classes that I am taking this semester are Desktop Publishing , which is fun, Intro to Visual Arts , and Advanced Microsoft Office . In my Desktop Publishing class we are learning hoe to create certificates, newsletters and flyers. I find this class to be a lot of fun and pretty easy. On the first day of class we learned to how to add pictures, watermarks, and similar fonts and colors to a document so that they stand out and don't look boring. Intro to Visual Arts is a really interesting class, because we are learning about how art is influenced by the culture and time period when and where it was created. We are also getting a brief introduction into a lot of the materials that are used in the creation of art. The homework for
