Wednesday Recipes - Sloppy Joes

Image
This recipe from Taste of Home is something that my family and I have been making for quite a few years now. And it is an easy recipe to double as well as bring to potlucks. My family also makes this recipe sometimes with beef instead of turkey and it is easy to do. We also leave out the celery seed and you can use any type of hamburger bun that you want. Ingredients 1 pound lean ground turkey 1/4 cup chopped onion 1/2 cup no-salt-added ketchup 3 tablespoons barbecue sauce 1 tablespoon white vinegar 1 tablespoon prepared mustard 1-1/2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce 1/2 teaspoon celery seed 1/4 teaspoon pepper 6 whole-wheat hamburger buns, split Directions In a large skillet, cook and crumble turkey with onion over medium heat until no longer pink, 5-7 minutes. Stir in all remaining ingredients except buns; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Serve on buns. Nedra Tawwab {Being strong is leaning into what you feel and who you are.}⁣ ⁣ Strong people admit, ”I cannot do everything myself, it’s okay to ask for help, and I am not pe rfect.”⁣ ⁣⁣ This is what's typically meant when people say, ”Be Strong”: ⁣ •Don't express how you feel because people will think you're weak. ⁣⁣ • You can/have to do things yourself. ⁣ • Accepting help is weak. ⁣ • Figure it out in your own. ⁣ • People have to think you're perfect. ⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ What are your ideas about being strong? ⁣⁣ - Nedra Tawwab

It's A Dangerous Business
