Story Ideas

Image
Back in January, during one of the many snow storms that we had, I was sitting on the couch scrolling through my phone when the name Sybil popped into my head. Besides the name, the only other information that this character gave me is that she is an orphan/in foster care. Photo by  Álvaro Serrano  on  Unsplash While I haven't done much with this character yet, I plan on figuring out the details so that I can begin writing the story. One thing that I had started doing, shortly after the character idea came to me, was to start writing down the names to instrumental songs that I was listening to on Spotify. The idea that I had for that was to incorporate the titles as the names of the chapters and then base the scenes, etc. off of that. Whether it will work or not I don't know since I want to do research into different settings and such before I begin writing the story. And I may save this idea for November and NaNoWriMo so that I can have time to prepare and gather ...

Favorite Fairy Tale

Image
This may seem like a strange fairy tale to have as a favorite, but one of my favorite fairy tales is called "The Robber Bridegroom." I first learned of this particular fairy tale, along with many others, in the book "Grimm's Complete Fairy Tales," which I had purchased at Barnes and Noble several years ago. Since you may be wondering why this is one of my favorite fairy tales let me tell you that I don't really know why it is a favorite either, especially since it is a rather morbid story. Photo by  Olivier Guillard  on  Unsplash When you first look at the title of the tale, it doesn't look like it will be too much of a dark and depressing fairy tale. But once you actually read it, then it becomes a bit morbid. What I mean by that is that the bridegroom and his gang, spoiler alert, are cannibals. That is why I still don't understand how I consider it to be a favorite fairy tale of mine, but whatever. So the bridegroom and his gang are cannibal...

--1-- Tuesday was a lot of fun because of the very dense fog. It was really annoying to drive in, especially when I had to deal with an intersection that is near my house. The nice thing was that in town and a decent area around my house were de-fogged on my way home from school. The fog in between was still dense and annoying. Of course the fog decided to stay around until Wednesday morning. But I was fin with the because I didn't have to leave the house until the afternoon. --2-- Besides having fog all day Tuesday and a part of Wednesday, we have been having some really nice weather. It's finally warm out again!!!! Though there is one day so far next week that is in the 40's, but it is still warmer than 0 degrees out which is nice for a change :) --3-- Last week I mentioned that I was going out with Amanda and some of my cousins to celebrate my birthday. It was a lot of fun.  --4-- This weeks inspirational quote :) --5-- The new...

2013: a Year in Review

Happy New Years Eve everyone!!!!! January: Yavi and I went out to Wachington D.C. for the 40th annual March For Life. We went with a large group from the area. Even though the day of the march was a bit cold it was still amazing to see all of the pro-life people who were there. On the way back the bus that Yavi and I were on had a singing competition and Yavi came in second place! Yavi and I also made it onto the front page of the Catholic News Service (CNS)! I had also gotten rather sick at the beginning of the month. I also went and saw Les Miserables with Yavi and my dearest mother. February: Amanda, Yavi and I finally got to meet our friend Maddy, who we had met online throught the Fairy Tale Novel books by Regina Doman and the fan forum ! TJ also finished up his basketball games.  March: I turned 19. We got a new pope! And for Amanda's birthday we got a surprise visit from our dear friend Elena! Since Amanda's boyfriend came out for a week to vis...

--- 1 --- Last weekend we went to a wedding! It was a family friend who was married so everything was very nice. The church that the mass and wedding ceremony was beautiful and old (though it was kind of out it n the middle of know where). All of the bridesmaids dresses were very pretty, the bride's dress was pretty as well. The reception was fun as well. During the reception Yavi caught the bouquet during the bouquet toss. --- 2 --- As you know I have been doing a photo a day thing. It has been interesting trying to come up with things to take pictures of. But it has been fun so far. Monday's was a little hard to do since it was early and I am not an early morning person. So a hand drawn sun rise was the next best thing. --- 3 --- The actor who will be playing the 12th doctor was announced on Sunday. I am going to say this now in case any Doctor Who fans don't want to find out until the Christmas special but: Spoilers! So now that you have been warned about s...

7 Quick Takes Friday

--- 1 --- Last week Friday, my mom, Yavi, Rosalind and myself got to see Regina Doman and her husband Mr. Andrew again. It was nice to see them. They were in town for a homeschool conference in our area. Once it closed for the night on Friday we went out for ice cream together. Though it took us a couple minutes to find a parking space. We had just walked out of the parking garage and gotten under the awnings from the stores and it starts pouring rain. So we had to wait about twenty minutes for it to stop raining. But we finally got to Coldstone Creamery and ice cream. --- 2 --- The weather last week and this week has been rather crazy and not very July. Since it has been in the 70's and 60's it has felt more like fall than summer. On Sunday Yavi said that the weather made her want to start school again. It is interesting how one week it was in the uper 90's then goes to the 60's and 70's the following week. --- 3 --- On Wednesday last week Amanda, Ya...
