31 DBC: Weird Quirk of Mine

This one I had to really think about because at first I couldn't really think of any weird quirks that I had. I was going to ask my family if they knew of any weird quirks that I have, but after I really thought about it I did come up with a weird quirk that I have. My weird quirk is that I can't sit up straight when I watch movies or something on tv. It doesn't matter if I am at home or at work and I am watching something, I have a hard time sitting up straight. My one sister hates sitting next to me on the couch when we watch stuff together because of that. At the movie theaters it is a little different because it is hard to be comfortable in the chairs there. But anywhere else I tent to lounge/slouch. Even if some people don't consider not being able to sit up straight while watching something as a weird quirk, I am because I do it a lot. So that is a weird quick of mine.

31 DBC: Favorite Comfort Food

Image
Cheese sausage veggies pepperoni ham pineapple Out of the list of food items that are typically found on pizzas my favorites are sausage and plain cheese pizza. Pepperoni is okay once in a while, but it is not a favorite of mine.  When most people hear the words comfort and food together in a sentence it is typical to think of ice cream. While I enjoy eating ice cream, my favorite comfort food is pizza. For me there is something about warm cheesy pizza that is comforting to me.

31 DBC: Top Things on My Bucket List

Image
While there are things that I want to do at some point in the future I never really thought of it as a bucket list. For me a bucket list consists of random things that aren't really done on a frequent basis or when you hear something that isn't typically normal. An example of hearing something that typically isn't the normal thing to hear is a cat throwing up, that happened a couple weeks ago when I was at work. Because I don't have an official bucket list I can't share the top things that are on it. Unless you count visiting Europe, or going to a concert as a top thing on your bucket list. So far I have only done one of the two examples I just gave. Last year over the summer my family and I went to a Piano Guys concert when they were in the area. It was amazing and something that I crossed off of my sort of existent bucket list. Getting to listen to a cat puke was something that I mentally crossed off of my bucket list as well, though it wasn't at the to...

31 DBC: What Do You Collect?

Image
The two things that I collect are knitting needles and yarn. I started my collection of needles when I was 10 years old and my grandma taught me how to knit. But I didn't start collecting my own stash of yarn until a couple years after that. For a couple years I just had the pair of knitting needles that my grandma had given me, then one year for Christmas I asked for more needles in different sizes, as well as a couple different skeins of different colored yarn. That was when I first really started collecting my stash of yarn and needles. Of course both collections have grown since then. Back in February I had done a post on the different size needles that I own. Since I wrote that post a pair of size 19 knitting needles has been added to my collection. My yarn collection hasn't changed much over the years since I started it. The collection started back in either January or February of 2010, when I made a blanket for myself. It was started because the November before...

31 DBC: What Makes Me Feel Better, Always

Image
I am the kind of person who doesn't easily tell people what the problem is, if I am upset or frustrated about something. And I hate it when people bug me to tell them what the matter is. To me, if I am being bugged to explain how I am feeling at a particular moment, I take longer to respond. When I am ready to tell someone how I am feeling about something I will tell them then, and I will do it because I want to and not because they want me too. While I may have a hard time telling others about how I am feeling at at particular moment, there are different things that make me happy. The first one on the list is going to Adoration!! I love being able to go to an Adoration chapel and sit in silence with Jesus and just think. Silence is something that I enjoy and being able to sit in an Adoration chapel in silence is something that makes me feel better. The second one on the list is just being there for other people when they need someone to listen too. Because sometimes someone...

31 DBC: Where Would You Like to Visit/Live One Day?

Image
Since I have never left the country this is something that I think about on a somewhat regular basis, or at least when the topic of traveling is brought up in conversations. One place that I would either like to visit or live in would have to be Ireland. I don't know what it is about this particular country that I like, but it always looks so pretty and quiet. And after visiting/living in Ireland the next country that I always wanted to visit is Italy. Besides the Vatican being there, Italy is also full of history, especially history that involves the Catholic Church, and since I enjoy learning about history, I would enjoy visiting Italy. After visiting and/or living in these two countries there aren't really any other countries that I would want to live in or visit, other than England.

31 DBC: 5 Favorite Blogs

This is one of the blog posts where I knew already what I was going to say so it was easy to pick five blogs that I enjoy reading. 1. Homeschooling with Joy . The first blog on the list belongs to my dear mother. Although she hasn't posted much lately, and I know pretty much everything that goes on around our house, I still enjoy reading what she writes on her blog. 2. Elenatintil . This blog belongs to a friend of mine. It is one of my favorite blogs because I enjoy reading what my friend shares on her blog. 3. Shealynn's Faerie Shoppe . This blog is run by another friend of mine. Shealynn runs her own business, which can be found through her blog, and shares pictures of the items that she makes and sells. It is one of my favorite blogs to read because I enjoy seeing everything that she makes and shares on her blog. 4. Books, Roses and Wine . Even though Amanda is my sister, and she sometimes shares stuff that happens at home, just like our mom, I still enjoy reading ...

31 DBC: How Do You Express Your Creativity?

Image
Just like everyone else I express my creativity in different ways. Some of the ways that I express my creativity is through photography, knitting and writing. Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, Washington D.C. (taken by me) Through photography I show my creativity with the different pictures that I take and the different ways that they are taken. The picture on the left is an example. I took it back in March when my family and I were in DC for a few days and we visited the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. Photography is something that I have enjoyed my whole life, though I didn't really get in to it until a few years ago and I enjoy sharing the pictures that I have taken. Writing is another way that I enjoy expressing my creativity. Even if I don't share my meager attempts at novel writing, usually done during NaNoWriMo , with the rest of the world I still enjoy writing because it gives me a chance to express who...

31 DBC: Pet Peeves

Image
Everyone has something(s) that annoys the heck out of them. There are several things that annoy the heck out of me a lot. One of the biggest pet peeves that I have is when people don't signal ween they are changing lanes and no one is really expecting it at that moment. The turn signal has other jobs than just letting people know that you are turning left or right. And even then some people don't use the turn signal. It is so annoying. Another pet peeve of mine is when people burp in public and don't even try to stop it. It is very annoying and not very polite. When people are in your way at the store or a restaurant and you are trying to be polite and the other person doesn't seem to hear you is a bit of a pet peeve of mine. While it's not as high on the list as the the other two, but it is still very annoying to deal with.

31 DBC: 10 Favorite Songs

Image
When I read today's challenge I wasn't sure if I would be able to come up with 10 songs that I really liked and considered to be my favorites, but I think I did a pretty good job of finding enough songs. 1.  Water Under The Bridge - Adele 2.  See You Again - Carrie Underwood 3.  Over You - Miranda Lambert 4.  Invincible - Kelly Clarkson 5.  Locked Away - R City featuring Adam Levine 6.  We Remain - Christina Aguilera 7.  You'll Be In My Heart - Phil Collins 8.  Don't Stop Believing - Journey 9. Take Flight (Orchestral Version) - Lindsey Sterling 10. I Won't Give Up - Jason Mraz

31 DBC: Something I Miss

Image
The topic for today made it easy for me to figure out what I was going to say here and that what I am going to say is more about someone that I miss rather than something. The someone that I miss is my grandpa. My grandpa died October, 2013 from Acute Leukemia and it was, and still can be, hard because no one really had the chance to say good-bye. My grandpa was always there for all 16 grandkids. No matter what the weather my grandpa would be there supporting all of us in our sports or plays. And when he wasn't working or spending time with his family, you could always find my grandpa having a cup of coffee with his friends. And if they weren't having coffee my grandpa and his friends were off fishing somewhere or playing a round of golf. My grandpa was always coming up with goofy nicknames for everyone or telling a joke. He even came up with a story about keeping a lion in the tool shed at the house. No matter what my grandpa was always laughing about something and ha...

31 DBC: Where I want to be in 10 Years

Image
10 years from now I want to have lost a decent amount of weight and have a decent paying job. 10 years from now I want to have made a positive change in someone's life. What we say and do now can have a positive or a negative affect on our future. Because if we say that we want to do certain things in a number of years, but never start working on them, then your future plans are negatively impacted. By working towards your goals and sticking to them, than you can positively impact where you want to be in the future. Where do I want to be in 10 years? Well like in the first sentence of this post I said that I wanted to lose weight. While I know that it will be hard for me to lose the amount of weight that I want to lose, I won't get anywhere unless I start exercising and eating right. The same goes for having a decent paying job. Now a days in order to get a job it is pretty much required that you have a college degree. Currently I am working towards my Associates in Appl...

31 DBC: My Worst Habits

Image
Habits are something that we deal with on a daily basis. Sometimes they are good habits and sometimes they are bad habits. 1. Not putting my clothes away before bed or when I get up in the morning. 2. Not doing a chore right away when I am first asked to do it. 3. Snacking when I don't really need too. While the above list isn't my worst habits, they aren't good habits. And while there are probably more bad habits that I could add to the list, those are all I could think of at the moment. Like with everything else in life you can make the bad habits better, but only if you work on them. While I might not do them right away I do put my clothes away and at times I do chores without being asked. But the not snacking all the time habit is something that still needs a bit of work. I don't know if this counts as a bad/worst habit or not, but I can be a bit stubborn at times and I know that my family doesn't appreciate that. But like I just mentioned above, if...

31 DBC: What am I Afraid Of?

Image
While there isn't a whole lot that I am afraid of there are quite a few things that I tend to subconsciously freak myself out about though they are just in my imagination. Taken by me 1. I feel like I am being watched or followed. 2. Reading ghost stories at night and freaking myself out a little. This one I am a little afraid of it actually happening. 3. Cars making a right/left hand turn while I am driving and running into my car. Other then that there isn't a whole lot that I am really afraid of.

31 DBC: A Date You Would Love to Go on

Image
For me the answer to this question is the easiest thing to say and explain why I would do it as a date with someone. (Just in case anyone was wondering, I am not dating at the moment.) My ideal date, whether it is the first, fifth, or twenty-fifth date, would be to go to a library or a bookstore and we would each pick out one of our favorite books. Once we had the books we would go to a cafe/coffee shop and take turns reading out of the books we picked out. Reading your favorite book over a cup of hot chocolate/tea/coffee, to me, seems more romantic than going to the movies or out for a fancy dinner. While there is nothing wrong with going to the movies or out for a fancy dinner, I enjoy read a good book more. Reading a good book in front of a fire with a big blanket and a mug of hot chocolate/tea/coffee would be a date that I woukd love to go on if going to a cafe doesn't work out.

31 DBC: Your Favorite Season and Why

Image
Fall, autumn, the season when leaves fall off all of the trees, the season between summer and winter. Out of the four seasons my favorite is fall, even though I was born in the winter. What I love about fall is all of the leaves changing colors and watching the leaves as they fall off of the trees. I also love the cooler temperatures, because it's not really summer anymore but it's winter yet. Fall also means that you can slowly start bringing out the big sweaters and comfy blankets. Fall is also a time of hot drinks, like tea, apple cider, coffee, and hot chocolate. It is also a time for bonfires, which I love the smell of. And when there are enough leaves on the ground you can make large leave piles to jump in. Pumpkins are a large part of fall as well. There is a large pumpkin farm not far from my house and my family used to go there every year when I was younger and we have started going there again. I enjoy going there because it makes fall feel official and I enj...

31 DBC: Timeline of My Day

Image
Out off all 31 days of this challenge, this is probably the most boring one out of all of them. At least I think it is very boring. But anyway here is a rough timeline of my day. I hope you enjoy :) 6:45 - 7:00 a.m. Get up and get ready/breakfast 8:15 - 9:00 a.m. morning mass 9:30 - 11:59 a.m. Unless I have school or homework to do, I usually help with laundry, walk over to the library, or do other random things around the house. 12:00 - 1:00 p.m.  Lunch 1:00 - 2:30 p.m. Cleaning up after lunch is usually involved during this time of the day. 2:30 - 10:00 p.m. During the summer I start work at 1:00 p.m. and the ending time for when I get out of work typically varies, though the latest is always 10:00 p.m. 7:00 - 10:30 p.m. Typically on Thursday evenings I go to a young adult group at a nearby church. 10:30 - 11:00 p.m. The time frame for when I usually go to bed. Every day is pretty much the same.

31 DBC: What's in My Handbag

Image
This one was kind of fun to do, even though it is kind of random at the same time. FYI: This is not my purse.  In the front pocket of my purse/handbag the list of items contains: A check book A pen A packet of "Hot Cinnamon Spice" tea Keys Band - aids Trident brand: Cinnamon Gum Triple Antibiotic Ointment A mini notebook A hospital visitors pass from January The larger main pocket in my purse holds: Receipts My wallet A Prayer book A collapsible hairbrush My school ID Pads (because you never know when you are going to need them) A drink coupon (for the cafe at my school) Occasionally my cellphone, car keys, and phone charger. And finally in the small zippered pocket of my purse there is: A small wood cross (I don't remember where I got it from) Earbuds A rosary Japanese Cherry Blossom hand sanatizer Nail clippers

31 DBC: Favorite Quote

Image
Even though I have many favorite quotes I already knew which one I was going to use for this post. I came across this post when I put it as the background on my computer. When I first had it as my background I hadn't really read it until I was on my computer several weeks ago and I really read it. "Don't change so people will like you. Be yourself and the right people will love the real you." This is my favorite quote because it is true in today's world. In today's world we have to look a certain way and dress the same and have clicks, but we are better then that. Because no matter what anyone says I am not going to accept the world's standards for how I should look, act, and think, for myself. If I did that I wouldn't be true to who I am as a person. When we are all thinking and acting the same, who will turn the world into a better place? Instead of following the rules set by today's society create your own rules and change the wor...

31 DBC: My Favorite Recipe

Image
This recipe is one of my favorites, and not just because it has cherries in it. So far I have made it twice, once for a potluck and once for my family. Because it is so good and easy to make I decided to share the recipe here :) Total Time:  Prep: 10 min. Bake: 40 min.
