And just like that, it has been a week since NaNoWriMo has ended! This year I ended the month with 50, 168 words, but my story is far from over. Today was my region's TGIO party and the first time that I was able to make it. And I had a nice time with my  fellow writers As an ice breaker to get to know other people from the region, one of the ML's gave each person a certificate with their username on it and then we had to talk with someone that we hadn't met/talked with before and share a goal that we reach or something that wasn't related to our word count. Once we had talked with someone about the goals or whatever it was that we did then we had to sign each other's certificate and hand them back to the ML (Municipal Liason) who was handing them out. I know that we are just leaving the Christmas season and that you may be wondering why I am talking about themed gifts. Especially since this seems like a topic that would be helpful before Christmas day. The reason why I am posting this now is that because themed gifts work for birthdays as well as graduations, going away parties, etc. painted and photographed by me For a number of years now, instead of getting a present for every single sibling, as well as the parents, because it gets rather expensive, my family has started doing this thing where my mom puts all of the siblings names on pieces of paper and then puts it into a bowl. We are then supposed to pick a name out of the bowl and that is the sibling that we buy a present, or two, for that Christmas. And this year, once I had the name of the sibling that I was buying for, I slowly started coming up with ideas as to what to buy for my "person" as we have started calling them. 1.) Last weekend was a lot of fun. On Friday the house phone went out, Saturday evening the air conditioning went out and on Sunday the power went out for a couple hours. At least there was a bit of a breeze outside, which helped with the heat a little. 2.) Saturday evening I hung out with some friends and watched Game 5 of the Stanley Cup finals. It was a lot of fun. On Monday Amanda and I met up with the same friends from Saturday to watch Game 6. Since I am from the Midwest it was exciting to see the Chicago Blackhawks beat Tampa Bay in games 5 & 6 and win the Stanley Cup. 3.) --1-- Last week on Wednesday Amanda, Yavi, Aaliyah and I went and saw the new Avengers movie since Amanda and I were both off work and we didn't know when else we would be able to see it. We all liked it. My apologies for the title being in pretty much all caps. Like I mentioned the other day about the title of Thursday's post working better for this one, the title that I have works even better because it is my birthday! Though I don't really like to publicize my birthday on the internet I decided to do it for today's 7 posts, 7 days thing since I had nothing else to do for today. Besides getting to quote "Tangled" for this post I get to share my birthday with a dear friend of mine. It was kind of funny how my friend "R" and I found out that we shared the same birthday. We had met at a week long Catholic girl's summer camp and one day during lunch the camp coordinator had all of the months separate into tables according to the month that their birthday is in. On Sunday the girls club that Rosy and Aaliyah are in had the family event part of the club. What the club does each year,during the school year, is the girls learn about a new country each year and usually in either January or February they invite the rest of the families to a dinner and "presentation" of what they have learned so far. Depending on the country that is being studied will depend on what the girls do. This year they have been studying the USA so the girls gave different speeches from different presidents as well as American poems and in between presentations we joined in the folk songs. It was fun. After we came home after that we watched the Closing Ceremony for the Olympics. I have to say that I liked South Korea's performance better then Russia's. --- 1 --- I was going to say something about school and how it was closed for President's Day and for something on Tuesday, but I wasn't sure if it was going to sound like I was complaining. Happy New Years Eve everyone!!!!! January: Yavi and I went out to Wachington D.C. for the 40th annual March For Life. We went with a large group from the area. Even though the day of the march was a bit cold it was still amazing to see all of the pro-life people who were there. On the way back the bus that Yavi and I were on had a singing competition and Yavi came in second place! Yavi and I also made it onto the front page of the Catholic News Service (CNS)! I had also gotten rather sick at the beginning of the month. I also went and saw Les Miserables with Yavi and my dearest mother. --- 1 --- As you have probably seen already from the posts that I did I have been in a knitting mood for several weeks now. I am working on two knitting projects right now, though the hat I am working on is on hold at the moment because I started making a pair of leg warmers this past Saturday as a present. The yarn I'm using for the leg warmers is fall colors :) When they are finished I am making sure that I take pictures of them before they are wrapped up and given away. --- 2 --- To continue on with the subject of knitting I have decided to make an afghan as well. The story behind that will be in number 3 of this week's quick takes. Instead of getting yarn from the store to make it I am reusing the yarn from this blanket/afghan that I made a couple years ago but never used: I spent part of Sunday afternoon and evening pulling out the seams and since the yarn that I used to sew the squares together was still in good shape I will be including that as well :) But...
