Thank Goodness It's Over

Image
And just like that, it has been a week since NaNoWriMo has ended! This year I ended the month with 50, 168 words, but my story is far from over. Today was my region's TGIO party and the first time that I was able to make it. And I had a nice time with my  fellow writers As an ice breaker to get to know other people from the region, one of the ML's gave each person a certificate with their username on it and then we had to talk with someone that we hadn't met/talked with before and share a goal that we reach or something that wasn't related to our word count. Once we had talked with someone about the goals or whatever it was that we did then we had to sign each other's certificate and hand them back to the ML (Municipal Liason) who was handing them out. Once we finished with the ice breaker we did lunch and then the ML's started handing out the certificates back to everyone. As we got the certificates we got to pick from pencils, red pens or purple pens an...

Whether you like it or not

The title of this post is a play on words because I am writing about one of my favorite subjects: the weather!! The idea for this post and it's name was inspired by the weather because it keeps changing and it doesn't feel like summer, let alone July.  Besides the weather the inspiration behind the name of this post comes from one of the "Silly Songs With Larry." The particular one that it comes from is called School House Polka .  Whether, whether, whether, whether, Whether you like it or not Weather, weather, weather, weather, Weather is cold, warm and hot Now that we are done talking about the title of this post and it being a play on words we can now talk about how the weather so far has been up and down all summer. This past week the weather started out in the 80's, but then it moved into the 60's and 70's. On Friday and Saturday it is supposed to be in the 80's again. It also hasn't helped that it has been raining a lot as well....

7 Quick Takes Friday

Image
1.) Last weekend was a lot of fun. On Friday the house phone went out, Saturday evening the air conditioning went out and on Sunday the power went out for a couple hours. At least there was a bit of a breeze outside, which helped with the heat a little. 2.) Saturday evening I hung out with some friends and watched Game 5 of the Stanley Cup finals. It was a lot of fun. On Monday Amanda and I met up with the same friends from Saturday to watch Game 6. Since I am from the Midwest it was exciting to see the Chicago Blackhawks beat Tampa Bay in games 5 & 6 and win the Stanley Cup. 3.) This writing prompt is one that I want to use at some point in my writing. 4.) Because everyone needs a picture of an adorable picture of a kitten to smile at. 5.) Since we had a decent amount of rain over the weekend and on Monday some of my siblings said that it was the Midwest version of Monsoon weather. While I enjoy rain with a little bit of thunder mixed in, I am not a huge fan ...

7 Quick Takes Friday

Image
--1-- Last week on Wednesday Amanda, Yavi, Aaliyah and I went and saw the new Avengers movie since Amanda and I were both off work and we didn't know when else we would be able to see it. We all liked it. On Sunday the rest of my family went and saw it and Aaliyah and I went with and saw it again. --2-- Right now "Heartbeat Song" by Kelly Clarkson is my new favorite song.  --3-- I started doing the reading challenge that I started back in January again. It's been slow but I am doing it again and now that school is over I will have more time to read. I was able to check off several boxes with "The Lunar Chronicles" series by Marissa Meyer. Now I am re-reading "Pride and Prejudice" to knock off a couple other categories. --4-- Tuesday morning, since I was feeling a bit bored and had some time on my hands, I ran to Wal-Mart for a quick trip to see if I could find any shirts and skirts to add to my summer clothing. I di...

My Confession

I have been blind, unwilling to see The true love you're giving. I have ignored every blessing. I'm on my knees confessing I was originally going to do this post closer to Good Friday but then I changed my mind and decided to post this now. A while ago I remember hearing someone say that Josh Groban's song "My Confessions," besides being a love song, could be taken into a Catholic/Christian point of view. And last night as I was leaving Adoration parts of the song just started playing through my head and I knew that I wanted to try and write an analogy of sorts. So here is my attempt at that. That I feel myself surrender Each time I see your face. I am staggered by your beauty, Your unassuming grace. And I feel my heart is turning, Falling into place. I can't hide it Now hear my confession. To me the song is about finding Christ again and telling him our confession and how, like at the  beginning  of the song, we have been blind and unwilling  the tru...

Catholic Kids Camp

Today starts Catholic Kids Camp, which is usually referred to as CKC. Friends of mine have been doing this for several years and last year was the first year that my siblings were able to for all four days. They are going again this year. For this year the theme is Knights and Princesses of God, last year it was Journey to Jerusalem. I would be helping out this year but the kids that I nanny aren't able to go so I won't be able to, because it conflicts with my work schedule. Last year I took pictures for them. TJ is excited because he gets to help out this year and for the skit tomorrow he gets to be St. Dominic Savio. Since I don't work on the last day I might go with, but we shall see. Each day they have a different skit at the beginning of the morning. (it goes from 9:00 till 1:00) They also learn different songs as well. After the songs and skits they go to their different group stations. There are four groups and they are divided by age. Each group gets a name that ...
