Making Book Covers

Image
As of the beginning of last week, I am now participating in Camp NaNoWriMo next month. Why? Because I can and I have an idea that I want to try out. And because every book needs a cover that attracts attention I decided to go into Canva the other night and play around with some pictures and title ideas that I have for the novel that I plan on writing. If you haven't heard me talk about Camp NaNo before, I will briefly explain what it is. It is like the regular NaNoWriMo that happens during the month of November. But with Camp NaNo, more often then not, it happens during the months of April and July. With the new website that NaNo released you can join in different groups, instead of staying in one 'cabin.' I find that having smaller groups like this makes it easier to get to know some of your fellow writers a little bit better.  Anyhow, here are some covers that I made to go with the story idea that I have and am planning on doing for Camp NaNo next month. Since I haven...

7 Quick Takes Friday

1.) Last weekend was a lot of fun. On Friday the house phone went out, Saturday evening the air conditioning went out and on Sunday the power went out for a couple hours. At least there was a bit of a breeze outside, which helped with the heat a little. 2.) Saturday evening I hung out with some friends and watched Game 5 of the Stanley Cup finals. It was a lot of fun. On Monday Amanda and I met up with the same friends from Saturday to watch Game 6. Since I am from the Midwest it was exciting to see the Chicago Blackhawks beat Tampa Bay in games 5 & 6 and win the Stanley Cup. 3.) This writing prompt is one that I want to use at some point in my writing. 4.) Because everyone needs a picture of an adorable picture of a kitten to smile at. 5.) Since we had a decent amount of rain over the weekend and on Monday some of my siblings said that it was the Midwest version of Monsoon weather. While I enjoy rain with a little bit of thunder mixed in, I am not a huge fan ...

--- 1 --- On Saturday I went and saw "Divergent" with Amanda and Yavi. Some spoilerish stuff in case you haven't read the book or seen the movie. Though we all enjoyed it and thought that it was pretty faithful to the book we all a little disappointed that they took out Christina and Will's relationship and Four and Tris taking the hardrive thingy at the end of the book because those are part of the plot line of the second book. I also noticed that the Erudite people didn't have glasses like they did in the book. --- 2 --- Well spring break is over now and school is underway. But on the bright side there are only a couple more weeks left of the semester! Of course not having any homework or classes for a week meant that I sat on my computer most mornings playing 'Solitaire.' --- 3 --- If anyone has any ideas for posts that I could write up so that I am not just doing 7 Quick Takes and Themed Thursday please leave a comment with your idea(s). ...

--- 1 --- What life is like after finishing the newest episodes of Doctor Who and Sherlock and waiting for more.  --- 2 --- Even thought the March for Life was this past Wednesday over the weekend (of the 18th and 19th) thousands of people joined in the Marches that were held in in  Wyoming, Syracuse, Cincinnati, Maine, Vermont, Ft. Wayne, Green Bay, Iowa, Chicago, El Paso, Dallas, Birmingham, Delaware, and Paris. Though I wasn't able to go to the March for Life in my state this past weekend I heard that I lot of people went to it. I also heard that there was 40,000 people who Marched for Life in Paris, France, which is amazing! --- 3 --- --- 4 --- Last week the basketball team that TJ is on won their first game, which was exciting!! the final score was 30-18. I would post a picture but I didn't bring my camera with and I don't know if my dear mother has done anything with the ones that she took at the game. --- 5 --- Though there wasn't in...

--- 1 --- Dr. Who fan art that I found on Tumblr. River + Eleven --- 2 --- Also a tumblr find!!!  New Season 3 Still for Sherlock!!!!!! --- 3 --- Since this is the end of the first week on NaNoWriMo I figured I'd share a small section from my story :) One cold December night on the outskirts of Paris, France a messenger arrived at the palace and demanded to see King Leonard and Queen Clotilde. When the king and queen came down to the entrance way the messenger told them that the king's younger brother Reynard was going to kill them and their eight month old son Arthur, so that Reynard's son Leviathan could become king of France when he became older instead of the current prince. Nodding Leonard asked the messenger how he had come across the information. Clearing his throat a bit nervously the messenger said that he had found it written on a piece of parchment that was being sent from Reynard to his personal adviser and he had intercepted the me...

--- 1 --- I found this on Facebook and I had to share it here :) --- 2 --- Last week on Saturday (the 19th) was TJ's last soccer game for the year. It was boys against girls and the boys won with the score being 7-0. But they had just played each other an hour before for the girls  teams  last game and the girls won that game. So each team got to win their last game and they were all even :) --- 3 ---  My friend Janny is hosting a Facebook event for authors and NaNoWriMo participants. There will be word wars, writing chats, and perhaps a little procrastination. It's meant to be a place of support for authors, and you're welcome even if you're not doing NaNo. Please join--and invite friends! You can find the link for the event below and here :)  https://www.facebook.com/events/1423309784554388/ --- 4 --- Tuesday we got a little bit of snow flurries. As much as I like watching snow fall, I'm not quote ready for it. I suppose it's ...

Catholic Kids Camp

Today starts Catholic Kids Camp, which is usually referred to as CKC. Friends of mine have been doing this for several years and last year was the first year that my siblings were able to for all four days. They are going again this year. For this year the theme is Knights and Princesses of God, last year it was Journey to Jerusalem. I would be helping out this year but the kids that I nanny aren't able to go so I won't be able to, because it conflicts with my work schedule. Last year I took pictures for them. TJ is excited because he gets to help out this year and for the skit tomorrow he gets to be St. Dominic Savio. Since I don't work on the last day I might go with, but we shall see. Each day they have a different skit at the beginning of the morning. (it goes from 9:00 till 1:00) They also learn different songs as well. After the songs and skits they go to their different group stations. There are four groups and they are divided by age. Each group gets a name that ...
