RED HEART SB300-004 SCARF*

Image
This is the first pattern that I ever used when I first learned how to knit. And I am a little surprised that I still had the pattern. Because for a while I didn't know where I had put it and thought that I had thrown it out. But I found it again and it is being stored in my pattern binder along with the rest of them. While it might look a little disheveled now I still have the scarf that I made with this pattern. Although the label is from a Red Heart Super Saver yarn label I made my scarf with Lion Brand Homespun yarn. Even though it is a beginner pattern I thought I would share it here because it knits up really easy and looks pretty, so it will make great Christmas or birthday presents. Red Heart © Super Saver®: 3 ½ ounces 319 Cherry Red Knitting Needles: 5.5mm [US 9] Yarn Needle Gauge: 17 sts = 4"; 25 r = 4" in pattern. Check your gauge. Use any size needles to obtain the gauge. Cast on 22 stitches. K 2 rows. Now work as follows: Rows 1 & 3 (Right Sid...

When Life Hands You Snow...

Image
...you either stay inside all day or you go outside and play in it or take photo shoots. In the case of my dog, you run around like a spaz. But the nice part about getting 12"+ of snow is that after you play around in it, you get to come inside and warm up with tea/hot chocolate/coffee depending on your preferences. Here are a couple pictures that I took while I was outside.

When it rains it pours

Image
That was especially true tonight because there were several storms that rolled through. The rain started around 4:30 ish and then around 5:00 p.m. the sirens went off letting us know that stronger storms that included heavy winds, hail, and a possible tornado were approaching. Since I am at work we went downstairs into the basement to wait it out. Even though a lot of the heavy stuff has gone past there is still a tornado watch, severe thunderstorm warning, and a couple flood advisories in effect for the moment. There is still a possibility for more heavy storms to come through overnight.  When I was younger didn't like storms at all. I would get really nervous when it stormed out, especially when there was a tornado involved. But I have stopped being scared/nervous of storms, though I still don't like them much, especially if I have to drive through them. While we were sitting in the basement waiting for all of the heavy stuff to pass, the electronic devices were pull...

Whether you like it or not

The title of this post is a play on words because I am writing about one of my favorite subjects: the weather!! The idea for this post and it's name was inspired by the weather because it keeps changing and it doesn't feel like summer, let alone July.  Besides the weather the inspiration behind the name of this post comes from one of the "Silly Songs With Larry." The particular one that it comes from is called School House Polka .  Whether, whether, whether, whether, Whether you like it or not Weather, weather, weather, weather, Weather is cold, warm and hot Now that we are done talking about the title of this post and it being a play on words we can now talk about how the weather so far has been up and down all summer. This past week the weather started out in the 80's, but then it moved into the 60's and 70's. On Friday and Saturday it is supposed to be in the 80's again. It also hasn't helped that it has been raining a lot as well....

7 Quick Takes Friday

Image
1.) Last weekend was a lot of fun. On Friday the house phone went out, Saturday evening the air conditioning went out and on Sunday the power went out for a couple hours. At least there was a bit of a breeze outside, which helped with the heat a little. 2.) Saturday evening I hung out with some friends and watched Game 5 of the Stanley Cup finals. It was a lot of fun. On Monday Amanda and I met up with the same friends from Saturday to watch Game 6. Since I am from the Midwest it was exciting to see the Chicago Blackhawks beat Tampa Bay in games 5 & 6 and win the Stanley Cup. 3.) This writing prompt is one that I want to use at some point in my writing. 4.) Because everyone needs a picture of an adorable picture of a kitten to smile at. 5.) Since we had a decent amount of rain over the weekend and on Monday some of my siblings said that it was the Midwest version of Monsoon weather. While I enjoy rain with a little bit of thunder mixed in, I am not a huge fan ...

--1-- Even though this week, with the exception of Monday, has been in the 50's and 40's I don't really care because it means that warmer weather is still on it's way and will hopefully be here sometime soon. On Monday it is supposed to be in the upper 40's and snowing. I don't want the snow right now, especially when it is officially spring. But that is one way to start of spring break I guess. --2-- I saw this on Pinterest the other day and thought that it was a really cute idea!!! Especially if you don't know what to give someone for a present. Graduation present I made my best friend... Wooden letter (purchased from Hobby Lobby) covered in wallet pictures.. Modge-Podge wooden letter then cover with pictures, lastly Modge-Podge over pictures with paint  brush..no   sponge :) Write on back as you would a card to utilize space and make it more special! --3-- Another Pinterest find that I found the other day was a link to a blog ...

--1-- Tuesday was a lot of fun because of the very dense fog. It was really annoying to drive in, especially when I had to deal with an intersection that is near my house. The nice thing was that in town and a decent area around my house were de-fogged on my way home from school. The fog in between was still dense and annoying. Of course the fog decided to stay around until Wednesday morning. But I was fin with the because I didn't have to leave the house until the afternoon. --2-- Besides having fog all day Tuesday and a part of Wednesday, we have been having some really nice weather. It's finally warm out again!!!! Though there is one day so far next week that is in the 40's, but it is still warmer than 0 degrees out which is nice for a change :) --3-- Last week I mentioned that I was going out with Amanda and some of my cousins to celebrate my birthday. It was a lot of fun.  --4-- This weeks inspirational quote :) --5-- The new...

Seven Quick Takes Friday

Image
--1-- Since it has been a while I decided to do a 7 Quick Takes post today. I also decided to write this at the lovely hour of 1:00 o'clock in the morning, but that is only because I couldn't sleep. When I got up my original plan was to try and get some homework done, but that didn't happen, because of something called the internet. But that is just life. --2-- I am really loving the current forecast that we have for next week because it is going to be up in the 50's!!!!! Super excited about that, because it means that spring is finally starting to arrive and not hiding anymore.  --3-- Earlier this week I was looking at phone cases and I found this Doctor Who case  on Etsy that I really like. I found this phone case as well and it made me think of Amanda since she owns the most books out of all of us. Then there is the cool LOTR phone case . Of course the adorable Captain America and Thor phone cases are too cute not too share.  --4-- ...

February Photo A Day - Your View Today

For the month of February I will be doing a photo a day challenge and here is today's picture!!

Hello Fall!

Image
Fall is one of my favorite seasons of the year. I have always loved how the leaves change colors and look pretty on the trees. Even though fall officially started yesterday the weather had started getting cooler before then, which I don't mind at all.  The smells that I associate with fall are fresh cut grass, apples and pears and I personally feel like you don't really get those smells with the other seasons. I personally think that fresh cut grass smells different in summer.  Fall also means that it is the beginning of sweater wearing and tea drinking. It is also pumpkin season! I've already made a pumpkin smoothie a couple times already as well as pumpkin spice tea. The other day I tried a pumpkin chai tea latte recipe, which was interesting.

--- 1 --- Since it as been a while since I did a 7 Quick Takes post on here I decided to do it again this week instead of doing a not very well structured post of what I am saying here. Plus I needed to do a post since I didn't do one last week. --- 2 --- Tuesday evening my sisters and I had a bonfire at our house with a bunch of friends. Even though I missed most of the event, because I had to work late, I still got to see some friends that I haven't seen in a while. After a while there was a free lightning show. --- 3 --- On Wednesday we had chiropractor appointment and it was amazing, especially since we haven't gone in a while. --- 4 --- The nice thing about the brief rain storm that we had Tuesday night was the cooler weather that came with it. One thing that I don't like during summer is the really hot days, so any less hot or cool summer days that come around I enjoy. So having cooler weather after having rather hot weather the day before is a ni...

--- 1 --- --- 2 --- Well there's one play down and one more to go. The second performance of "The Seven Last Words of Christ" is on Sunday. The first performance went well and we managed to sell out at the last minute. Why we worry that there won't be enough tickets sold in the weeks leading to the show(s) I have no idea, because we always manage to sell out. At the church that we performed at on the 5th they were very nice and gave us a couple big baskets filled with bars, mints, and small bags of trail mix and almonds and peanuts. --- 3 --- A while ago on my old blog I had written a post about being obsessed, or something like that, with pens. Though I have always been obsessed with the weather I feel like I have been noticing it more since I got a job, because I have to check it pretty much every day and some times several times a day. Not to mentioned I have mentioned the crazy weather that we have been having lately several times already. --- 4...

--- 1 --- Even though I kind of set myself up for this on accident, but I was roped into acting in "The 7 last Words of Christ." I was originally not going to help because my job didn't allow for me to make a lot of the practices. But then I had to say something about having to work so I couldn't make all of the practices or something along those line.       --- 2 --- I was going to say how I don't like snow, especially after the first day of spring, but I wasn't sure how I was going to word it. I was also going to mention something about the rain that we have been having as well, of course I couldn't figure out how to word it without making it sound weird. --- 3 --- I found this on Tumblr and I really like it so I decided to share it here :) --- 4 --- Last week my sister wrote a post on her blog about how she is a secret ninja, because she somehow managed to hurt her ankle. And last week my right wrist started hurting a little and I ...

--- 1 --- I found this on Pinterest and thought that it was funny. --- 2 --- Even though I have probably beaten this subject to death already I had to bring up exercise again. A while ago it was suggested to me by my wonderful parents to start keeping track of all of the food that I eat so that I can watch calories and such and work on losing weight. Though I hadn't started doing that right away I have decided to start doing it, especially while I'm at work, and I only remembered the suggested when a friend of mine posted a link to a website called SparkPeople. The website helps you keep track of what you are eating, training and stuff like that so I decided to give that a try as well. --- 3 --- Though they started back in April 2012 The Lizzie Bennet Diaries " an online modern adaptation of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice " is a fun series on youtube that I think any Jane Austen fan would enjoy. If you haven't seen them yet but want to wa...

--- 1 --- I got to watch the second episode of Sherlock again on Sunday and I enjoyed it more the second time around since I was able to watch it all of the way through instead of having to do it in pieces. It is still my favorite Sherlock episode out of all three seasons :) --- 2 --- My mother, Yavi and Amanda started watching Downton Abbey season 4 on Sunday. I am only really watching it for the grandma because she is my favorite character. --- 3 --- On Monday the college that Yavi, Amanda and I go to had a snow day because it was incredibly cold (-2 degrees during the day and -17 in the evening) and windy. This is what it said on the Weather Channel about Monday: " Bitterly cold. Partly cloudy skies with gusty winds. Dangerous wind chills as low as -25F. High -2F. Winds WNW at 20 to 30 mph." Tuesday was a snow day as well because it was still really cold, though not quite as cold as Monday was. --- 4 --- Anyone remember the blanket that I had said that I ...

--- 1 --- The Arctic weather that we had at the beginning of the week was a lot of fun. Especially since one of the pipes in our laundry room frozen and then burst, but we were able to take care of that quickly and we still have water in the rest of the house. --- 2 --- --- 3 --- On the 4th I threw a surprise party for Yavi. We had a lot of fun and Yavi enjoyed herself. And this is what happens when your younger brother gets a hold of several blow thingys. --- 4 --- found on pinterest --- 5 --- For over a year or so the Fairy Tale Novels Forum has been having a fun campaign to get new members and to promote the forum and Regina's books, the goal was to get up to having 1,000 members by the anniversary of the starting of the forum or when we reached 1,000 members (there is 1,023 members now). And I came in third place for the contest, I was surprised when I found out because I wasn't expecting that and I had kind of forgotten about the contest. When...

--- 1 --- Going from 60 degrees at the beginning of the week, several tornadoes, lots of rain and wind, are included in that, to 26 degrees at the end of the same week. Last week on Saturday night it got down to 6 degrees. So it went from nice spring weather to really cold winter weather. When I move out, when ever that is, I want to move to someplace that doesn't have terribly cold winters or really hot summers, because I don't like extremely cold or really hot weather. Once I find out which states have mild winters and summers I will let you know when I decide to move there ;) :) --- 2 --- Tomorrow is the last day of NaNoWriMo and I haven't been to bad with my procrastination. There was only about three days total where I either didn't write at all or only wrote a couple hundred words. But I have been trying to make up for the days where I didn't really write by trying to write at least two thousand or more words.  --- 3 --- --- 4 --- The ...
