Doxology // Song by Beautiful Eulogy

Image
Photo was taken by me I will offer a sacrifice of praise, I know it's gonna cost me The cost is not greater than the cross where you bought me I was lost and you sought me, I was ignorant, you taught me I was impotent against my enemies, you fought for me I exist for your glory, never for mine I know I never would shine if it wasn't for your spirit inside You made me alive when I was dead in trespasses The passion of Christ left my sin in the past tense Every good and perfect gift comes from your hand You set me back on course when I run from your plan No excuse to refuse to lift my voice Because the gospel is true, there's always a reason to rejoice And that doesn't mean that my sorrow is inconspicuous But when I grieve, I got a greater joy in the midst of it The joy of knowing I will see you face to face And it's all to the praise of your glorious grace ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Doxology // Song by Beautiful Eulogy

It's A Dangerous Business

Image
“It's a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don't keep your feet, there's no knowing where you might be swept off to.” ―  J.R.R. Tolkien,  The Lord of the Rings photos by me

Saint and Word of the Year

Image
Even though I wrote a post on this topic last year, and probably one or two other times, I wanted to share the word of the year as well as the saint of the year that I received for 2020. Found on Google and the parish website for St. Hyacinth Catholic Church in TX. The saint that I received for this year is St. Hyacinth, who I have heard of, but didn't really know much about. Thanks to the internet and a quick Google search I was able to look St. Hyacinth up and learn more about him. And what I have learned is that St. Hyacinth is the patron saint against drowning and Poland. His feast day is August 17th. Jennifer Fulwiler, the creator of both generators, shared the links on her Facebook page (and I think on Instagram/Twitter but I am not sure). When she shared the link and a picture of the first page for the Saint generator she added this clarification to the caption in the post. (To clear you some confusion, this generator gives you the name of people canonized in ...

31 DBC: Favorite Quote

Image
Even though I have many favorite quotes I already knew which one I was going to use for this post. I came across this post when I put it as the background on my computer. When I first had it as my background I hadn't really read it until I was on my computer several weeks ago and I really read it. "Don't change so people will like you. Be yourself and the right people will love the real you." This is my favorite quote because it is true in today's world. In today's world we have to look a certain way and dress the same and have clicks, but we are better then that. Because no matter what anyone says I am not going to accept the world's standards for how I should look, act, and think, for myself. If I did that I wouldn't be true to who I am as a person. When we are all thinking and acting the same, who will turn the world into a better place? Instead of following the rules set by today's society create your own rules and change the wor...

7 Quick Takes Friday

Image
--1-- Since it's been over a month since I did my last 7 Quick Takes I decided to do another one. I am also doing it because I couldn't think of anything else to really post about that would make a long enough post by itself.  --2-- Last week after I had put this post up on my blog, I randomly decided to check the audience views to see how many different countries were viewing my blog. Needless to say I was very surprised to see all of the page views that I had from Romania. Normally the US is on top with a couple other countries underneath.  <--- That is from Sunday when I checked the page views again to see if anything had changed at all.  --3-- With school starting right around the corner, literally, because it starts on Tuesday for me, I thought I would do something for one of my quick takes. Last week I bought the books that I need for the three classes that I am taking this semester and I was thankfully able to save m...

7 Quick Takes Friday

Image
--1-- I would have posted something last week, but I forgot and couldn't think of anything to write anyhow. Not to mention my work schedule for last week was a tiny bit crazy, but that is just life and we have to deal with it. --2-- On Tuesday my friend Grace wrote a post on her blog My Spare Oom called What No One Tells You About College . " Talking about all the things people DON'T tell you about college - good and bad" (what Grace said when she shared the link on Facebook). --3-- --4-- Again on Tuesday I was reading another interesting article. This time on the subject of the words things that can happen to you in your 20s . Since I am in my 20s I thought that it was something to think about and potentially learn from. " The worst thing that can happen to you in your twenties would be if it were easy." --5-- "We also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance...

--1-- I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter! I did :) For as long as I can remember my family and I have tried to visit both sides of the family on Easter Sunday, but sometimes that doesn't end up happening. This year we went and visited my grandma in the evening on Holy Saturday. We had pizza dinner and watched the movie "Groundhog Day" on the tv since it was on. It was a funny movie. On Sunday we went to mass at our church and then came home and had my other grandparents over for dinner. After dinner and the dishes were done most of us went on the traditional walk that we take. And if you haven't read it yet here is a more accurate description of what my life has been like this week since Sunday. --2-- This is what the sanctuary of our church looked like on Easter! This is from our after dinner walk :) --3-- Well I decided to do Camp NaNoWriMo this month and I am doing ok in my writing. While it still needs some work before it...

7 Quick Takes Friday

Image
--1-- This week was my spring break. Even though break started off with a round of snow, this week hasn't been that bad. Especially since I consider my spring break to have started on Friday last week, since I am only going two days out of the week.  --2-- To start of my break, on Saturday afternoon, Aaliyah, Rosie, and I went with some of Aaliyah's friends to the movie theater to see "Cinderella." We all loved it. Then in the evening, Amanda, Yavi and I went out to dinner with some friends to celebrate Amanda's birthday. After dinner, since Amanda and two of the friends we went out with hadn't seen it yet,  we decided to go to the movie theater down the street to see "Cinderella." Even though I had just seen the movie I still enjoyed it. --3-- Tomorrow I am going out swing dancing. There is a ballroom about an hour away from where I live and they regularly do swing dancing there and tomorrow is their annual Swinger's B...

Quote from St. Paul to Apostle

"If I speak in the tongues of men and angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give away all I have, and if I deliver my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing. Love is patient and kind; love is not jealous or boastful; it is not arrogant or rude. Love does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrong, but rejoices in the right. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends: as for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away. For our knowledge is imperfect and our prophecy is imperfect; but when the perfect comes, the imperfect will pass away. When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reaso...

--- 1 --- --- 2 --- Well there's one play down and one more to go. The second performance of "The Seven Last Words of Christ" is on Sunday. The first performance went well and we managed to sell out at the last minute. Why we worry that there won't be enough tickets sold in the weeks leading to the show(s) I have no idea, because we always manage to sell out. At the church that we performed at on the 5th they were very nice and gave us a couple big baskets filled with bars, mints, and small bags of trail mix and almonds and peanuts. --- 3 --- A while ago on my old blog I had written a post about being obsessed, or something like that, with pens. Though I have always been obsessed with the weather I feel like I have been noticing it more since I got a job, because I have to check it pretty much every day and some times several times a day. Not to mentioned I have mentioned the crazy weather that we have been having lately several times already. --- 4...

7 Quick Takes Friday

Image
--- 1 --- On Saturday I went and saw "Divergent" with Amanda and Yavi. Some spoilerish stuff in case you haven't read the book or seen the movie. Though we all enjoyed it and thought that it was pretty faithful to the book we all a little disappointed that they took out Christina and Will's relationship and Four and Tris taking the hardrive thingy at the end of the book because those are part of the plot line of the second book. I also noticed that the Erudite people didn't have glasses like they did in the book. --- 2 --- Well spring break is over now and school is underway. But on the bright side there are only a couple more weeks left of the semester! Of course not having any homework or classes for a week meant that I sat on my computer most mornings playing 'Solitaire.' --- 3 --- If anyone has any ideas for posts that I could write up so that I am not just doing 7 Quick Takes and Themed Thursday please leave a comment with your idea(s). ...

--- 1 --- Lent has started and this year I am giving up snacks, sweets (except for birthdays and Holy Days) as well as trying to exercise more. I will do my best to let you know how it is going. :) --- 2 --- As I am sure you saw by my post on Sunday that it was my birthday at the beginning of the week. Besides what I talked about in my post that day Amanda and I went out to dinner on Saturday night with two cousins. It was a lot of fun. For dinner we went to "FlatTop Grill" and the food was amazing, especially if you like stir fry. The place that we went to for dessert is one of the best chocolate places ever! In the menu the first two pages list all of the different hot chocolates that they do as well as chocolate lattes and mochas. Not to mention they make amazing desserts. They also have a small store attached where you can by a bunch of different candies. --- 3 --- Words to live by. --- 4 --- Last week I decided to not do a 7 Quick Takes Friday sinc...

--- 1 --- Like everyone else in the world my family and I have been watching the Olympics. My favorite event is the Figure Skating. Though the Snowboarding is interesting as well. --- 2 --- --- 3 --- This year at the Daddy Daughter ball I only took two photos that weren't with my family or from dancing, which is kind of surprising because usually there is at least a few group photos of a bunch of the girls that are around my age and we didn't do that. I'm okay with that though. --- 4 --- In case I haven't said this already I am finished with winter and ready for spring. The only things that I like about winter is Christmas and my birthday, which is coming up in a couple weeks. I enjoy snow when it isn't coming down every single week. It hasn't actually done that, though it feels like it at times and I prefer snow when there aren't freezing temperatures thrown in as well. I apologize for my mini rant but I am tired of winter. --- 5 --- ...

--- 1 --- I got to watch the second episode of Sherlock again on Sunday and I enjoyed it more the second time around since I was able to watch it all of the way through instead of having to do it in pieces. It is still my favorite Sherlock episode out of all three seasons :) --- 2 --- My mother, Yavi and Amanda started watching Downton Abbey season 4 on Sunday. I am only really watching it for the grandma because she is my favorite character. --- 3 --- On Monday the college that Yavi, Amanda and I go to had a snow day because it was incredibly cold (-2 degrees during the day and -17 in the evening) and windy. This is what it said on the Weather Channel about Monday: " Bitterly cold. Partly cloudy skies with gusty winds. Dangerous wind chills as low as -25F. High -2F. Winds WNW at 20 to 30 mph." Tuesday was a snow day as well because it was still really cold, though not quite as cold as Monday was. --- 4 --- Anyone remember the blanket that I had said that I ...

--- 1 --- College has been going pretty well so far and I have been able to keep up with homework this week. On Wednesday I signed up for a gym membership at the fitness center that the college has, not to mention I still get a work out when I have to get to math class because it is on the opposite end of campus from where I park and it is a decent walk there. Getting to my English GSD classes isn't that bad since they are pretty close to each other. --- 2 --- On Pinterest I found a Character Name Generator that a friend of mine had pinned to one of her boards. So now I have a new way of creating names for characters when I write stories :) --- 3 --- --- 4 --- --- 5 --- I found this pattern for really cute looking fingerless gloves  on Pinterest! Whether or not I actually get around to making them is another question. But I do like the color of the gloves in the picture. --- 6 --- For the past week or so my sister Yavi has been doing a 30 day Disney Ch...
