A Nightmare Before Christmas

Image
For all of my knitting buddies A NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS ‘Twas the night before Christmas and all around me was unfinished knitting not under the tree. The stockings weren’t hung by the chimney with care ‘cause the heels and toes had not a stitch there. The children were nestled all snug in their beds, but I had not finished the caps for their heads. Dad was asleep; he was no help at all, and the sweater for him was six inches too small. When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter, I put down my needles to see what was the matter. Away to the window I flew like a flash, tripped over my yarn, and fell with a crash. The tangle of yarn that lay deep as the snow reminded me how much I still had to go. Out on my lawn, I heard such a noise, I thought it would wake both Dad and the boys. And although I was tired, my brain a bit thick, I knew in a moment it must be Saint Nick! What I heard then left me somewhat perplexed-ed, for not a name I heard was what I expected. “Move Ashfor...

Story Without a Name

Image
A couple weeks ago I was texting a friend of mine, who we will call Elsa, and after a while Elsa suggested that the two of us do a role playing game. Once we had each created a character and a basic story line, as well as a third character who hasn't been introduced yet who I am in charge of writing we started. After we had started working on it I liked how my side of the story was going so I decided to turn it into more of a story so I started flushing what I had already written and started adding things in. Since I just started writing it the story doesn't have a name yet. They aren't the greatest but here are the first few paragraphs that I have written so far. At 5’2” Carrie Richards barely touched the edge of the sleeping bag that sat on top of the shelving unit in the basement that held all of her camping gear. Grasping what she could Carrie pulled the fat roll towards her. Once it was off the shelf Carrie placed the sleeping bag next to the stairs. Facing the...

The End of the Dock

Image
This is another short, short story that I spontaneously decided to write and share on here. I hope you enjoy reading it. Walking to the end of the rickety old dock Kailee sat down on the edge and let her feet hang in the water. Ever since she could remember Kailee had spent three weeks out of the summer up at the cabin with her family and she always hated when they had to leave. Sighing Kailee wished that they didn't have to leave the next day and that their family vacation wasn't over already. As she sat there watching the sunset on the horizon Kailee felt the dock rock gently as someone walked down to the end. Not turning around Kailee knew who it was by the sound of the of their footsteps. As her dad sat down next to her on the end of the dock Kailee smiled and pulled her feet out of the water. Giving Kailee a hug her dad asked if she was ready to go. Even though she didn't feel like leaving, she nodded her head yes. Getting up, now that the sun had disappeared, K...

Fred the Jellyfish - An Original Short Story

Image
This is a short story that I was inspired to write by the picture. Even though I don't really know much about jellyfish I hope you enjoy reading my short story. A long, long time ago, in the depths of the ocean there lived a lonely jelly fish named Fred. He was always looking for friends to hang with in the blue waters of the ocean. But no one wanted to be his friend and that made Fred very sad.  As he continued to swim along and find new friends Fred wondered what it was like out of the water. But every time he tried to reach the top of the water, the waves pushed Fred back under. Not giving up Fred continued to try, until one day when he grew too tired of the waves constantly pushing him back under the water again.  One day as he was swimming along Fred finally made some friends in a large group of jellyfish. Happy to have some friends at last Fred stayed with them as they continued to swim around. After traveling the ocean with his friends and having the time o...

Work in Progress

This is another snippet of my work in progress that I wrote a while ago. Feel free to let me know if there is anything that needs to be fixed :) Even though the large auditorium was empty, Grace still felt a bit nervous as she stood on the edge of the stage near the curtains. Taking a deep breath she moved away from the curtains and set her bag down on the floor. As she opened up her bag Grace knelt down next to it and took out her pointe shoes. Sitting down on the stage Grace put on her pointe shoes and put her sandals into her bag. Pulling out her IPhone and ear-buds, as she stood up, Grace plugged her ear-buds into her phone. As she walked to the middle of the stage Grace put the ear-buds into her ears and picked out a song from  The Nutcracker . After working on the dance that she had choreographed to the song Grace took a break.

Story Snippet

This morning, since I had some time in between my two classes, I started writing and this is what I came up with. Standing in front of his bedroom window and thinking Arthur happened to notice a shadowy figure standing across the street. Since it was dark out Arthur wasn't too sure, but it looked like the figure was watching him in the window. After standing there for several minutes the figure left, leaving Arthur puzzled as to why someone would watch him. In the morning, as he was getting ready to leave for his classes at the college Arthur had forgotten about the figure from the night before. As he was walking the couple blocks to the college Arthur couldn't shake the feeling that he was being watched and followed. Whenever he turned around to see who it was there wasn't anyone there.

Cover Ideas

Image
Before my NaNo story decided that it didn't want to really follow the plot idea that I had in my head, I made a couple covers using the plot ideas that I had. I also have a cool cover idea that I want to try, but I don't know when it's going to happen.

The Adventure of Sherpork Holmes

This is a story that I wrote back when I was eleven. Why it had to be a story about pigs I don't know, but here it is, enjoy :) The adventure begins in Pork City on July 18th, 1818. The Hams children, Lily, Peter, George and Henry, were playing in their yard. Then, who should come along but the Big Bad Goose. He started to chase them around the yard. They all ran oinking into the house. Mr. Ham called Sherpork Holmes to save the day. Meanwhile the Big Bad Goose was trying to get into the house. He got in and kidnapped Peter and Lily, who were twins, then ran off. Then who should enter the scene but Sherpork Holmes and his faithful friend Doc Bacon. Mr. Ham told them what had happened in the last few minutes or so. Then off they went in search of the Big Bad Goose. The Big Bad Goose soon got to his lair, and there he dropped Lily and Peter. Sherpork Holmes and Doc Bacon were nearing the lair, which was about 30 miles from Pork City, in Chop Mountain. Chop Mountain is very high an...
