The pattern for this blanket is actually for a dishcloth, but I decided that I didn't want to use the pattern to make a dishcloth. Instead, I decided to use it for a blanket. Now the reason why I am doing in reverse is that a while back I had found a blanket pattern on Ravelry for a Mitre Blanket where you start with somewhere between 300-600 stitches on the needles, depending on the size blanket that you wanted to make. That was before you slowly make your way down to one-three stitches at the very end. And I tried making a blanket with that pattern once with 600 stitches and I didn't like it. This blanket started out as an idea that I based off of something similar that a friend of mine did. And the thought for this blanket came to me on Halloween of last year (2017) and I went with it though it took a little bit longer to actually form into a physical blanket. Since I wanted this to be a surprise for my sister and her husband, I knew that I wouldn't be able to make it all myself. So I enlisted the help of my grandma and some friends to make some squares for the blanket. I also made a bunch for the blanket as well don't worry ;). Originally it was supposed to be finished in time for my sister's bridal shower back in April, but that didn't happen. The day before the shower I went over to my grandma's house to start sewing the squares together so that my sister wouldn't be able to see it. Back in January of last year one of my cousin's got engaged and I had the idea to make them a blanket, though I didn't know what yarn or pattern I wanted to use for it. Then in the middle of February/beginning of March I was at the library across the street hanging out with the Fiber Arts that meets there every week and one of the ladies there was giving away a bunch of free yarn and in the yarn was a plastic bag with three skeins of Mainstays Home 4-Ply Worsted yarn (colorway: Mountain Top) and I took it home. After having it sit in my room for several months of the yarn sitting in my room collecting dust, I finally found a pattern that I wanted to use the yarn for, along with a skein of white yarn that I had so that it went farther. Back in September, I wrote a post on one of my many knitting projects, with this particular project being a Ten Stitch Blanket that I am making from balls of yarn left over from previous projects, etc. Well, today I was able to get more yarn, for free, for the blanket so that I can continue to add to it. <---- The stash for the blanket with the new yarn added to what I still had on hand. As you can see from the picture I have a lot of yarn for this blanket, and that is not counting the couple of balls that I had already set aside to use once I am finished with the purple that I am adding to the blanket. Last week when I was writing my post about the five projects that I am currently working on, I realized that I hadn't done a post for a baby blanket that I finished several months ago. So the pattern I used is called Cotton Twill Squares, unfortunately, I don't remember where I found the pattern for this blanket otherwise, I would share the link for it. The yarn that I used for this blanket was 6 skeins of Patons North America Beehive Baby Chunky in Quicker Clover, and there was a little left over when I finished it, and I found the yarn at Jo-Ann's. Back in January, I found out that one of my cousins was expecting their first baby, as well as a family friend, so I got the idea to make them both baby blankets. Call me crazy but I currently have five knitting projects in the works, though only two of them are currently active. As I mentioned in a separate post last week, and one other time before, I said that I was working on a Ten Stitch Blanket. That is project #1. Project #2 is a Log Cabin blanket and the colors for this blanker are white yarn and a variegated blue, green, and purple yarn. Project #3 is another Ten Stitch blanket that I started over the summer, but haven't really done much with. The colors for this blanket are goldenrod and two shades of rust orange. Project #4 is a Corner to Corner blanket, and the colors for that are a light gray and a dusty purple, with possible dark purple accents (I don't know for sure yet). Back at the beginning of April, I wrote a post on how I was knitting a  blanket , using the Ten-Stitch Blanket pattern on Ravelry. I also mentioned that I was making it with a bunch of different colored yarn scraps that I had. Well, the other day I pulled it out again and took it apart. What it used to look like Since you might ask why I took it apart, especially since I had already knit so far along. To start off, back in March of last year I wrote a post on how I am the queen of taking knitting projects apart. As I was working on the blanket, I did take a break to start working on two other blankets, I didn't like where some of the colors were falling. Remember back in September of 2015 when I shared a post about a ball of scrap yarn that I had started? Well it has grown bigger since then and I started using it for another knitting project. The knitting project that I am working on at the moment is another blanket. Instead of being the traditional style where you work back and forth in rows, the blanket is made in the shape of a square. Back in July I wrote a post about a baby blanket that I had started making using a pattern that I found Pinterest. I finished the blanket several weeks ago and added the three shamrocks that I had made. When I first started working on the blanket the pattern told me to do a certain amount of garter stitch rows and then do the rest of the blanket, with the exception of the border, in stockinette stitch. I thought that it was a little weird/odd that they would have you do that, though I'm sure that it would look pretty. Since I didn't see the point in that one of my sisters suggested that I keep making the blanket the way that I had been. So I did. Since you are probably wondering why I have become "obsessed" with knitting baby blankets I will try to explain. taken by me. As you all know I finished knitting this blanket  several weeks ago. Shortly after I had finished making the blanket, and had given it to the recipient, I heard that the wife of a coworker is expecting. So it was suggested that I make a baby blanket for them. This time I am using a baby blanket pattern that I had found and saved on Pinterest. Since I don't know the gender of the recipient for this blanket, I chose a pretty yellow yarn to make the blanket with. Even though the pattern suggests that you use circular needles to make the blanket with, I decided to make the blanket using straight needles instead. While circular needles make it easier to hold all 135 stitches on it, I can't stand using circular needles. At the beginning of May I had posted that I was working on a baby blanket and hadn't decided on who the recipient was going to be. In that post I had said that I was going to be using five different colors for the blanket, instead I ended up doing only three colors. Pale pink, light green, and a cream/off white color that I had forgotten was in the bag. I had started working on it right away and had gotten a decent amount done on the blanket before I stopped for a couple weeks because it was getting warmer out. But I started working on it again last month and I was able to finish it, though I had to pause in my knitting "frenzy" because I had to wear a brace on my hand for a few days because of a bit of tendenitis. Because a 120 letter word would be a bit hard to remember how to spell correctly all of the time, there typically aren't any words that long. And no this isn't a crossword puzzle. Instead this is a post on one of my favorite topics: knitting!!!!!! Since I have a lot of yarn sitting around and collecting dust, I wanted to make something with it. After thinking about it and looking at the color options that I have, I decided to make a relatively neutral colored baby blanket. When finished I plan on giving the blanket away, though I don't know to who to give it to yet. The name of this post came about because I am creating my own pattern for this blanket. I love the way that the stockinette stitch looks, but hate how the edges usually curl under when finished, so I am creating a border for the blanket by doing the rib stitch around the edges to keep the blanket from curling under. I came up with the title for this post the other day when I was taking apart the blanket that I had started working on. The reason why I was taking it apart is because I hadn't gotten enough yarn when I was at Michael's. And when I realized that I went back to Michael's earlier this week to get more of the yarn I needed and they were out of it. So after a slight freak out moment and wandering around and looking at all of the other yarn options and asking my mom about I should do, we decided that it would make more sense to start over with new yarn. Now instead of wasting the yarn that I had originally gotten for the blanket, I am going to save it and turn it into a baby blanket to give away when it is finished. Here is the story behind the pillows that I was making, that I said I would tell here. Middle Picture: the original idea. Right and Left Pictures: The pillow cases It all started back in January when I decided to knit a blanket for one of my cousin's who had just gotten engaged. After looking for the right yarn and Michael's, and Wal-Mart, I found fluffy white and black yarn at Hobby Lobby that I decided to use. Once I got several balls of yarn I started working on the blanket. The first blanket pattern I used wasn't turning out like the picture that came with the pattern, I think that was because I wasn't reading the pattern correctly. So I decided to ditch that pattern and start over with a different pattern. After five tries and a lot of tears, hand cramping, and frustration, there wasn't really any tears I just thought it sounded good, I gave up on trying to make anything with the yarn. Since January I have been working on and off on knitting a blanket. Currently I am on try number 5 for this blanket and hopefully I will be able to finish it with the pattern that I am using for it. Tries 1 thru 4 involved knitting it with a couple different patterns and trying to crochet it. I only tried crocheting because I was bored one morning and didn't know what to do so I decided to teach myself, by watching you-tube videos, but it ended up not working out. So now I am back to kitting the blanket again. Unfortunately I forgot to take pictures of my past attempts but I did take pictures of the yarn being done into balls. My brothers were very helpful and willing in the winding endeavor. While I am not working on them all in the same day I have three different knitting projects going on at the moment. The first project that I started making was a blanket and I started working on that over a year ago. Project number two is a rug. This one only came about because one day I randomly decided that I wanted to give t-shirt yarn a try since I had a bunch of old t-shirts laying around. The last project is a pair of hand warmers for TJ because he asked me to make him a pair. Because it is the smallest project and the easiest to transport the hand warmers will be the first project that I finish.

I guess you could call this a throwback Thursday post because I finished the blanket back at the beginning of May and just got around to taking pictures of the finished product now. Pinterest is to blame for giving me the idea to make this blanket, though I don't remember where the original pin that I got the idea from went too. I had started making it last year using up the rest of a pink flannel sheet that was in our material bucket, but then I ran out of that so it sat around for a while by our sewing machine until I found a large grey flannel sheet.
