"The best kind of prize is a *sur*prise!"

Image
Especially if you don't remember asking for it at all. Earlier this afternoon Amanda and my mom were going out shopping together and I apparently told them to bring something back. Even if I don't remember saying something they did and brought me back a surprise. When they were at Hobby Lobby my mom found this sign <= and decided to get it for me. Since it was a surprise I made me think of the quote from "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," that I used as the title for this post.

7 Quick Takes Friday

--1-- Last week on Wednesday Amanda, Yavi, Aaliyah and I went and saw the new Avengers movie since Amanda and I were both off work and we didn't know when else we would be able to see it. We all liked it. On Sunday the rest of my family went and saw it and Aaliyah and I went with and saw it again. --2-- Right now "Heartbeat Song" by Kelly Clarkson is my new favorite song.  --3-- I started doing the reading challenge that I started back in January again. It's been slow but I am doing it again and now that school is over I will have more time to read. I was able to check off several boxes with "The Lunar Chronicles" series by Marissa Meyer. Now I am re-reading "Pride and Prejudice" to knock off a couple other categories. --4-- Tuesday morning, since I was feeling a bit bored and had some time on my hands, I ran to Wal-Mart for a quick trip to see if I could find any shirts and skirts to add to my summer clothing. I di...

--1-- Tuesday was a lot of fun because of the very dense fog. It was really annoying to drive in, especially when I had to deal with an intersection that is near my house. The nice thing was that in town and a decent area around my house were de-fogged on my way home from school. The fog in between was still dense and annoying. Of course the fog decided to stay around until Wednesday morning. But I was fin with the because I didn't have to leave the house until the afternoon. --2-- Besides having fog all day Tuesday and a part of Wednesday, we have been having some really nice weather. It's finally warm out again!!!! Though there is one day so far next week that is in the 40's, but it is still warmer than 0 degrees out which is nice for a change :) --3-- Last week I mentioned that I was going out with Amanda and some of my cousins to celebrate my birthday. It was a lot of fun.  --4-- This weeks inspirational quote :) --5-- The new...

--- 1 --- Last week on Saturday four out of six siblings had rehearsal all day for their upcoming Christmas play "The Conversion of Scrooge,"and Aaliyah was helping out at a food pantry in the morning. So it was just me, my mom and Amanda at home, so we decided to stop over at Hobby Lobby to do some shopping. --- 2 --- Even though I usually don't like to start my Christmas shopping until after Thanksgiving I found some crafts to add to presents. For the three kids that I nanny I got them each an ornament that you could color, though I already did that. For the oldest girl that I nanny as part of her Christmas present from me I got a canvas bag and decorated it. But now that Thanksgiving is over I can start looking for the rest of the presents that I need. --- 3 --- At the end of August we started doing a clean eating plan thing and one of the smoothie recipes that you get with it is a peanut butter smoothie and I really like it so I decided to share it here ...

Pride and Prejudice + Darcy's Inner Struggles = A Blog Post

Image
“It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife.”   I was going to re-write the opening sentence of  "Pride and Prejudice" so that it would work with this post but then I decided not to. The other day when I was watching the 2005 version of "Pride and Prejudice" with TJ and Aaliyah and it was towards the beginning of the movie when I thought of one of the Fitzwilliam Darcy's Inner Struggles things that I had seen floating around on Pinterest. And it just so happened that today when I was on Pinterest I came across the inner struggles picture thingy that I had mentioned during the movie. So here it is.

God's Not Dead

Yesterday I was able to see the movie "God's Not Dead" with Yavi and Aaliyah and some friends. I thought that it was a good movie and I recommend it if you haven't seen it yet. While I won't go into much details and spoil the movie for anyone who hasn't seen it yet I do want to say that I liked that at the end of the movie they challenged everyone to text the words "God's Not Dead" to all of the contacts on their cell phones. Though I didn't do it yet I want to challenge you to text those words to all of the people in your contact list on your phones. Even though I said I wasn't going to give away any spoilers I think the quote (pictured below) sums up what sin is.

--- 1 --- On Saturday I went and saw "Divergent" with Amanda and Yavi. Some spoilerish stuff in case you haven't read the book or seen the movie. Though we all enjoyed it and thought that it was pretty faithful to the book we all a little disappointed that they took out Christina and Will's relationship and Four and Tris taking the hardrive thingy at the end of the book because those are part of the plot line of the second book. I also noticed that the Erudite people didn't have glasses like they did in the book. --- 2 --- Well spring break is over now and school is underway. But on the bright side there are only a couple more weeks left of the semester! Of course not having any homework or classes for a week meant that I sat on my computer most mornings playing 'Solitaire.' --- 3 --- If anyone has any ideas for posts that I could write up so that I am not just doing 7 Quick Takes and Themed Thursday please leave a comment with your idea(s). ...

--- 1 --- In case you haven't seen it yet there is a youtube video of "Let It Go" being sung in different character voices from Disney and Pixar movies floating around on Facebook and it is hysterical. I like the guys Micky Mouse and Whinnie the Pooh impressions. You can find the video here . --- 2 --- On Saturday my family and I finally got to watch "Thor: The Dark World" and we all enjoyed it. Especially once Loki showed up. We all loved this scene . I also thought that the funeral scene for Thor's mother was sad and beautiful at the same time. Here is a link to the scene . If you haven't seen it yet I apologize for the spoilers. --- 3 --- The amazing Irish Soda bread that we have every year on St. Patrick's Day. --- 4 --- This is the one week during Lent that I like to think of as our splurging on sweets week. The reason being that we celebrate St. Patrick's day at the beginning of the week, then on the 19th is the fest...

--- 1 --- The other day I was feeling a bit bored so I made a couple covers for the story that I started working on. --- 2 --- A couple of weeks ago I was looking up pictures of the minons from "Despicable Me", don't remember why, but while I was scrolling down the page I came across this minion picture: --- 3 --- I found this on Pinterest a while back... --- 4 --- On Sunday we had to shovel snow off the driveway. It was really cold out and it made my stomach kind of hurt a little bit afterwards. The only bright side, besides being able to come inside and warm up, was getting hot chocolate. --- 5 --- Since I couldn't think of anything else to write for this one I decided to share the first couple sentences of what I have written so far of my story let me know how you like it :) Standing under the only low-lit street lamp Xiomara looked both ways at the quiet street lit only by the light of the street lamps. Sighing to herself...

--- 1 --- What life is like after finishing the newest episodes of Doctor Who and Sherlock and waiting for more.  --- 2 --- Even thought the March for Life was this past Wednesday over the weekend (of the 18th and 19th) thousands of people joined in the Marches that were held in in  Wyoming, Syracuse, Cincinnati, Maine, Vermont, Ft. Wayne, Green Bay, Iowa, Chicago, El Paso, Dallas, Birmingham, Delaware, and Paris. Though I wasn't able to go to the March for Life in my state this past weekend I heard that I lot of people went to it. I also heard that there was 40,000 people who Marched for Life in Paris, France, which is amazing! --- 3 --- --- 4 --- Last week the basketball team that TJ is on won their first game, which was exciting!! the final score was 30-18. I would post a picture but I didn't bring my camera with and I don't know if my dear mother has done anything with the ones that she took at the game. --- 5 --- Though there wasn't in...

--- 1 --- My dear friend Jansina release her third book As Fairydust Settles last week! Though I haven't had the chance to read it yet I'm sure it will be as good as her other books (Forgotten Memories and Shrouded Jewels). If you want to buy a copy of the book as an Ebook, paperback, hardcover, and hard cover with dust jacket you can go here for the price information as well as contact information :) --- 2 --- I found this on Pinterest on Monday. --- 3 --- Even though it has been a few weeks since the end of November and NaNo I did manage to reach 50,000 words with one day to spare. Though I am not finished yet with the story I was writing it still needs a bit of work. If I ever get around to finishing it and editing it I will let you all know if I decide that I want to publish it or not. --- 4 --- This is another one of those weeks where I have a hard time coming up with things to write about for my quick takes. So I will have to start thinking of new ...

--- 1 --- As you have probably seen already from the posts that I did I have been in a knitting mood for several weeks now. I am working on two knitting projects right now, though the hat I am working on is on hold at the moment because I started making a pair of leg warmers this past Saturday as a present. The yarn I'm using for the leg warmers is fall colors :) When they are finished I am making sure that I take pictures of them before they are wrapped up and given away. --- 2 --- To continue on with the subject of knitting I have decided to make an afghan as well. The story behind that will be in number 3 of this week's quick takes. Instead of getting yarn from the store to make it I am reusing the yarn from this blanket/afghan that I made a couple years ago but never used: I spent part of Sunday afternoon and evening pulling out the seams and since the yarn that I used to sew the squares together was still in good shape I will be including that as well :) But...

7 Quick Takes Friday

--- 1 --- Last week Friday, my mom, Yavi, Rosalind and myself got to see Regina Doman and her husband Mr. Andrew again. It was nice to see them. They were in town for a homeschool conference in our area. Once it closed for the night on Friday we went out for ice cream together. Though it took us a couple minutes to find a parking space. We had just walked out of the parking garage and gotten under the awnings from the stores and it starts pouring rain. So we had to wait about twenty minutes for it to stop raining. But we finally got to Coldstone Creamery and ice cream. --- 2 --- The weather last week and this week has been rather crazy and not very July. Since it has been in the 70's and 60's it has felt more like fall than summer. On Sunday Yavi said that the weather made her want to start school again. It is interesting how one week it was in the uper 90's then goes to the 60's and 70's the following week. --- 3 --- On Wednesday last week Amanda, Ya...

Vacation Part 4

Image
Friday was the last full day that we were on vacation. Other than getting to sleep in and the guys fishing in the morning we didn't do much. We played another round of Farkle and I came in third. I was in first for a while but then Amanda and TJ got more points than me. For lunch we had fresh fish, that was my mom's idea. It was ok. For dinner we went out to Culver's and then we went over to the lake for the water ski show. It was pretty neat to watch. When it was over we went back to Culver's for ice cream. On our way back to the cabins afterwards there were a lot of bugs out. Sometimes they looked like mini clouds. When we got back to our cabin we watched the rest of "Fireproof" since it was on tv. On Saturday other than packing the car and driving for six hours we didn't really do much. Though we did stop at Lake Redstone for lunch and at Red Robins for dinner.
