What's in a Name?

In 2011 I started working on a story idea that I had that was loosely based on the story of "The Frog Prince" and set in the West during the 1800's. While I liked the idea of having a retelling of a not very popular fairy tale it didn't really take off. Then in 2012 I went to a five day writing course that was given by one of my favorite authors. My idea was refined a bit more and placed in Medieval times and based on the story of St. George and the Dragon. Currently my story idea is a combination of King Arthur and St. George and the Dragon. With a little bit of the story of Moses possibly thrown in as well.

Besides the ideas for my story changing all of the time, the name of my main girl character keeps changing as well. While I don't remember what her name was from 2011 - 2013, I do remember all of the names after that.

For a while, in 2014, my main girl character's name was Xiomara, because I thought it was really pretty. But after a couple months it got changed to Grace. While my main girl character has kept Grace as her first name for a while, I have considered changing it to something else.

Some of the names combinations that I was considering changing my main girl character's name too last year were/are: Grace Hannah, Grace Anne, Hannah Grace, and Anna Grace.

While I have still kept Grace as part of my main girl character's name, I have given her three different names, and counting if I find other names that I like. The three names that I have given her were all found in books that I have recently read. The three names are Clarissa, Claudia, and Alexandra. Out of the three I like Alexandra the best and they all go with the name Grace, which I still want to keep.

While my main girl character has gone through a bit of a name change over the past few years, my main guy character hasn't gone through as much of a name change. Since I started trying to use the story of King Arthur as an inspiration for my story idea, my main guy character has been named Arthur, though his middle and last name keep changing. In the last scribbles that I did of my story, Arthur's friend was named Lance A-Lot. While A-Lot really isn't a last name, it was the only thing that I could think of at the time.

Eventually I will settle on names that I like for my characters. In the mean time they will keep changing when I find new names that I like.

--- 1 --- The other day I was feeling a bit bored so I made a couple covers for the story that I started working on. --- 2 --- A couple of weeks ago I was looking up pictures of the minons from "Despicable Me", don't remember why, but while I was scrolling down the page I came across this minion picture: --- 3 --- I found this on Pinterest a while back... --- 4 --- On Sunday we had to shovel snow off the driveway.
