Three Weeks In

As of right now, we are three weeks into the new year and in that time I have ended one job and started another. The nice think about ending and starting two jobs is that I had a week in between ending my job at Kohl's and then starting my new job and during the in-between week I just had the nanny job that I do. Of course, I had to get sick with the stomach flu in between jobs which wasn't that fun, especially since I got the rest of the family sick. Enough about being sick and work and on to other more pleasant sounding topics of conversation.

For Christmas, I received a book called Writing Your Novel From Start To Finish: A Guidebook For the Journey by Joseph Bates. And I started reading it the other night and in the second chapter there were two sentences that jumped out at me. While the author is specifically talking about character development I believe that the two sentences still apply to real life as well as the page.

"Our heroes ought to be flawed and imperfect (because they are people, and people are flawed and imperfect)."

"No character is 100-percent good or evil, kindhearted or callous, capable or clueless."

Why I believe that these two sentences are applicable now is because every single person is flawed and imperfect and we make mistakes every day. Whether characters in a book or in real life we can learn from our mistakes and learn to become better at understanding and recognizing our flaws and imperfections. With the second sentence, we are both good and evil, kindhearted and callous, capable and clueless. Just like we can learn to understand our flaws and imperfections, we can choose if we want to be good or evil, kindhearted or callous, capable or clueless. But it is up to each individual to decide how they want to act towards others and with themselves.

In the past few weeks, besides starting a new job, I have been working on a blanket that I started back in July 2017. Since it will end up being a larger baby blanket when finished, I plan on hanging on to it in the event a friend or family member announcing that they are expecting. That is what happened with a baby blanket that I made back at the beginning of 2017. Another knitting project that I am still working on is another baby blanket and again there is no current recipient for it, but it may end up in a state fair in the fall, still debating about that.

While I continue finishing old and starting new knitting projects that is currently all I have to say for the moment.
