Family Adventures and Bonding Time

Since my mom's birthday and Labor day were the same day, she wanted to celebrate this past weekend.

On Saturday we started the day off, since the kids didn't have soccer, by going to look at a house that is for sale in our area. It was a pretty decent house and on a nice quiet street. After walking around the house for an hour we went out to a nearby restaurant for lunch. I have been to the place where we went for lunch a few times before and they have good food.

For church on Sunday my mom wanted to go to the Byzantine Liturgy, so we went. If you haven't ever been to the Byzantine Divine Liturgy, I highly recommend that you go to one.

After that the plan was to eat lunch in the car as we drove to a beach that a lot of our friends had gone too before and go swimming for a couple hours and then have dinner later. But by the time we left church and got there it was full. So we drove another twenty minutes to a different beach, but that was just as full as the first beach. At the second beach there was a couple spots where we could have parked the car, but by the time we had parked and changed into swimsuits everyone would have been hot and kind of crabby. Instead of dealing with that we just decided to head home.

On our way back we ended up booking two rooms at the hotel where Amanda works so that we could still swim. Before we went up to the hotel we ran home and packed overnight bags for everyone and then went up there. We went swimming for a while and then hung out in one of the two rooms that we had for a while. After a while we went down to the bar that is in the hotel and got drinks. I had a "Caribbean" and it was pretty good, though I didn't end up drinking it all.

Monday morning we went and had breakfast at "The Great American Bagel" and then went to nine o'clock mass at a near by church. After that we went back to the hotel and swam for an hour and a half. When we finished swimming we changed and came home and chilled for a little while. For dinner we went to The Cheesecake Factory.

Even though part of what my mom wanted to do for her birthday didn't go as originally planned, we still had fun together.
