Have Courage and Be Kind

If I am already kind to others and show courage, why do I still need to remember to that?

It is one thing to say that we are kind, or that we have courage. But it is another thing to actually live those words out. There are many different ways to show that you have courage or are kind and to actually live them out. When you say that you do those words often do you really know what they mean?

Here are the definitions of Kindness and Courage that are found in the American Heritage Dictionary:

kind·ness  n.1. The quality or state of being kind.2. An instance of kind behavior: Your kindnesses won't be forgotten.
cour·age  n.The state or quality of mind or spirit that enables one to face danger, fear, or vicissitudes with self-possession, confidence, and resolution; bravery.

By reading over the definitions for these words you know have a better understanding of what they actually mean. But how would they be put into practice? And how would you know when to have kindness or courage?

Knowing when to have courage or show kindness will depend on your surroundings and who you are with. While it may seem daunting to do at first, showing courage and kindness doesn't take much effort. And it is one of those things that just gets easier to do once you get started.

Being kind to others is one of the easiest things to do. All it really takes is for you to start offering to help others or to encourage someone if they need it. Just by saying a few words of offering to help you are making a positive impact on someone. Simply by being polite or carrying on a pleasant conversation you can brighten someone's day if they are feeling down. Even if works of kindness aren't being publicized in the news when they happen, there are still people out in the world who help others with works of kindness.

Having courage is just as important as being kind to others. Courage can be shown in many different ways, just like it says in the definition. A common way of showing courage is by standing up for yourself or for others when being bullied. By doing that you are showing that you are no longer afraid. Courage can also be shown by moving to a new city or country on your own. You can even show courage by standing up for something that you believe in.

Just by showing courage and kindness you can make a difference in your own life and in someone else's life. So no matter what you do or where you are always remember to have courage for what you believe in and to be kind to others.
