A Year Ago Today

A year ago today I graduated with my associate's degree as an Administrative Assistant. It doesn't feel like it has been a year yet but it has and a lot has happened. Besides graduating last year there was a lot of other things that happened. Some of which happened even before I graduated.

While I don't have to start last year all the way back in January in last year I am going to since it just makes things a little easier to go in chronological order. So in January, we celebrated my grandma's 80th birthday and my sister Teresa flew in the day before to surprise her since my sister had just left to start her last spring semester of college. My mom and the rest of my sisters were at a friend's baby shower the day before. I also started a babysitting job once a week on Tuesdays. Not a whole lot happened in February, which is an okay thing some times. But my other grandparents did move into their new house. In March we had a bridal shower for my cousin's fiance, now wife. My older sister Amanda and I also celebrated our birthdays in March as well.

In April, we had Easter and celebrated my brother's birthday. My brother-in-law also moved out here as well. Then we had a bridal shower for Amanda. May was a bunch of graduations in the family. Teresa, my brother Tim and I all graduated as well as three of my cousins, two from grade school and one from medical school. Teresa and I both graduated from college and Tim from high school. Like I mentioned at the beginning of this post, today marks a year since I graduated and May 11th was a year since Teresa graduated.

June saw my cousin's wedding as well as other parties and other odds and ends. In July we had a bachelorette party for Amanda. For the party, we went to a wine and painting place, which lets anyone 21 and under in, and took a class on how to paint lilacs and then went out to a nearby restaurant for dinner. While I am not an artist the painting part was a lot of fun and the food was delicious. We also had a graduation party for my siblings and me in the craziness that was July. In August we had Amanda's wedding and celebrated Tim's birthday before he left for college. While he had to miss his three-week Freshmen orientation the rest of my family drove Tim out to Wyoming to drop him off at college while I stayed home with our dog Sully. I also left my job at the community college where I had graduated from since the new semester was starting and I was no longer a student there. September thru December was pretty calm, though I did have a seasonal job at Kohl's for November through the first week of January.

Then in January of this year, I started a new job at a local remodeling company. It is a lot of fun and I enjoy working there. While I knew a tiny bit about remodeling and updating your home when I started working I can say that I have widened my knowledge of the remodeling business a lot more. I am still doing the babysitting job that I started last year and the toddler that I watch is certainly keeping me on my toes but it is still fun and enjoyable.

After January the past few months have been uneventful though Tim will be coming home for the summer on Memorial Day. And as you saw in my last two posts I have started a blog, a Facebook page, and an Instagram account all under the name "The Knit Potato." And the rest of this year is going to be more relaxed and laid back then last year since there aren't any family weddings happening and my brother Anthony is the only family member graduating this year.

So that is all that has really happened so far in the past year. Let's hope that the rest of this year is just as fun.
