May The Fourth Be With You
I am not a Star Wars fan, but that seemed like an appropriate title for today. I have been trying to settle on a topic to write about here but keep getting stuck. Technically I had an idea for a post but I didn't get very far with it. And ironically enough it was going to be a post using the question "What Helps You To Be Creative?" as the prompt/title. So instead I shared the question to my Facebook page to see what people's responses are and I may do another post where I share their responses as well as how I get creative.

I had come up with the name a while ago because I have had several people tell me that I should sell the stuff that I knit. So I started poking around at Weebly about setting up a website, which I have created but haven't published yet. As I was poking around I knew that I would need a name for this potential side business. The first name that I had come up with was "Knits By Megan," which I didn't really care for. But after thinking about it for a while, and sleeping on it, I came up with the name "The Knit Potato." It is a combination of the phrase "couch potato" and I shirt that I have that says "If I'm sitting I'm knitting" on it. So that is how the name came about.
Besides being May 4th and Star Wars day, today was also a stitch-in at the library across the street from my house. I can't remember if I have mentioned this group or not, and I am too lazy to go and look through past blog posts, but the stitch-in was put together by the fiber art group, called "The Book and Bean Sit and Stitch,*" that meets at the cafe in the library. So about 3 1/2 - 4 years ago, shortly after moving into our house and I started going to the library practically every day, I discovered that a group of women who knit, crochet, weave, felt and cross-stitch met on Wednesday mornings and evening in the cafe attached to the library. They meet up for a few hours to work on projects and talk.
So I started going and every year they rent one of the library's meeting rooms and bring yarn, needles, crochet hooks, and pattern books for people look at and take if they need it. Today was the Sitch-In as the event is called and I came home with to decent sized bags full of yarn and some plastic ornaments, which I will be using for a project at a later date. The past two years have been the same where I have come home with a lot of yarn. But this is a large part of how I got my large stash of yarn. I am also thinking about starting another blog to post knitting projects and ideas too, but I am not sold on the idea yet since I have quite a few posts here that are knitting related. And my knitting posts are a bit of a filler when I don't know what else to write here.
Anyhow that is enough about my rambling on knitting and a few other not knitting related things.
*Most groups that sit around and do things like knit, crochet, etc. use the word b**** instead of stitch.
