Making Banana Bread - Based on a Writing Prompt

Typically I am not someone who readily shares stories that I have written with other people. This is mostly because I don't like the way that it turns out so I don't want to let other people read it because of that.  But today I have decided to share a short paragraph that I wrote last night while I was taking part in a video chat with other writers. The prompt for this was a picture of a loaf of bread (different than the one pictured here) and in the background was a banana or two. And since the story idea that I have for this year's NaNoWriMo is based on the Greek gods and mythology I decided to use one of the characters that I am slowly creating for this idea.

So this is what would happen if the Greek god Zeus was a high school football player in the kitchen and trying to make banana bread for the first time.

"Standing in the kitchen Zeus looked at the piece of paper in his hand. Having never baked anything before in his life, he had been dared to make something and bring it the next day to class to share. The name of the recipe he had to make was banana bread. Scratching his head the burly football player set the recipe down on the counter as he began looking for the ingredients that he needed to make the bread. Once he had all the ingredients assembled in a line on the counter, he started reading the instructions on how to put everything together. Peeling the bananas he placed them in a bowl and mashed them carefully with a fork. Once that was done, he set the bowl to the side as he started reading the second step. As he read through the second step he carefully measured out and added in the flour, baking soda, and salt. When those were combined, he placed the brown sugar and butter into the bowl of the mixer and turned it on. After the sugar and butter were creamed together Zeus placed the mashed bananas into the bowl. Picking up an egg he carefully cracked it into the bowl and placed the shell on the counter. Grabbing the second egg Zeus accidentally pressed his thumb too hard on the shell and the yoke exploded on his fingers. Making a face he tossed the mess into the garbage can and washed his hands in the sink. Taking two more eggs he carefully cracked them open into the bowl and turned it on."

I hope you enjoyed reading that as much as I had fun writing it. Hopefully, my story for NaNo will be that much fun to write and I like the way that it turns out.
