Venerable Fulton Sheen, Pray For Us!

The other day my mom, two siblings and my older sisters mother-in-law and brother-in-law had the opportunity to visit and pray at the tomb of Venerable Fulton J. Sheen down in Peoria. It was an amazing experience and is now the fouth saint/blessed/venerable that I have had the opportunity to pray in front of. The other three were St. Mary Magdalene, St. Maria Goretti and St. Padre Pio.

The picture on the top left is of Ven. Fulton Sheen's tomb and on the top right is a close up of the painting of our Lady of Czestochowa. On the bottom left is in the cathedral's adoration chapel where they also have several relics of different saints. Bottom right is information about Ven. Fulton Sheen.

After praying in front of his tomb and visiting the relics in the adoration chapel we walked a block or two down the street to visit the Fulton Sheen museum, which was an amazing experience as well. Because they had a lot of artifacts that had belonged to him. Though they didn't have the Emmy that he won for his tv show Life is Worth Living. While looking at everything in the museum we discovered that he was also bi-ritual, which means that he celebrated two different Catholic rites. And being bi-ritual meant that he celebrated the Byzantine liturgy, which is an amazing experience as well, and the Latin rite, which is the Traditional Latin Mass and the Novus Ordo. So that was cool to find out. And they had the vestments and items that he used for the Byzantine liturgy.

After wandering through the museum for a bit and reading the information on all of the different items that they had we all slowly made our way into the small gift shop. In the gift shop, we discovered that they had several Tiny Saints. If you haven't heard of or seen the Tiny Saints keychains you should look them up because they are adorable. I don't remember the other Tiny Saints that they sold there, but they did have one of Ven. Fulton Sheen and we each got one and I put mine next to the keys for my car and for my house. And on the back of the card that the Tiny Saint was attached too they have a short paragraph about his life, (or whatever saint you get) and they also include what Fulton Sheen is the patron of.

"Fulton J. Sheen was an American bishop known for his charismatic preaching style and his work on television and radio. Sheen was a brilliant Christian theologian with a strong grasp of world religions as well. That knowledge, combined with his compassionate nature and unique stage presence made him one of the most influential Catholics of the 20th century. For his work, Sheen won two Emmy Awards for Most Outstanding Television Personality. More importantly, he stirred hearts and opened minds all across the nation."
